It works best in the very first moment you think you might possibly have a sniffle or sore throat, but it can also decrease the severity of a cold if you stay on it throughout the illness. The blister packs are great for travel or to keep in your purse or pocket. Whenever I'm about to get on an airplane, I take this and continue it throughout the trip if I can, and I'm convinced I've dodged all kinds of illness that way. Also, I work from home and don't have kids, so I theorize that I don't have the resistance to germs that I'd have if I was exposed to more of them, because I used to catch colds all the time. Different story since I started using Yin Chiao--I won't be without it now. Review: Yes, this really CAN prevent colds! - My acupuncturist first introduced Yin Chaio to me. If you take them at the first sign of a cold, you can usually prevent the rest of it. If you do not catch it early enough, they will still shorten a cold considerably. This works better than Echinacea/black elderberry that I had been using to stop a cold. They are larger tablets, so take only one at a time with lots of water (preferably warm). The recommended dosage of four tablets, three times a day is ideal for me. This is my favorite brand, as they work well and seem to be the best quality (at a good price, compared to what practitioners charge in the office).

Bigger tablet than any brand
These tablets are much bigger and does not taste good like the black pills but they are equivalent to about 3 regular black pills. Since they are bigger more likely you would need food in your stomach since they all slightly cold...yes will make you cool. Overall they are effective for first sign of illness....if viral is so strong that your tonsil is so painful, I would switch to andrograhis so reduce any chances of fever Or/and pneumonia. Even with fever andrographis an resolve it quick....the yin chiao cannot handle that . Don't waste your time to see Dr for a cold/flu...no need for flu shot either-just my opinion since I get sicker with flu shot.

The wafers I will not buy again cause they don't go down very easy and are kinda nasty tasting
I have been using this item for a few years and when I feel a cold coming on, I start taking these. I usually get the capsule kind but wanted to try the wafers. The wafers I will not buy again cause they don't go down very easy and are kinda nasty tasting. But with all the nasty flu out now I have been taking them every day just as a precaution.

Didn't seem to work for me
I bought these to have on hand in case I got a cold, as recommended by a friend who's an acupuncturist. And indeed a week or so later, I started to feel that scratchy throat that I get at the start of a cold. I started taking these as directed on the box right away. They're not great tasting and a bit hard to swallow - no coating that makes it easier. But most importantly, I don't notice anything different about the cold's progress. I'm not sure I'll try them again in the future.

Stops a cold dead
the first time I used this I got it from my acupuncturist. I mentioned that I felt like I had a cold coming on, so she recommended this. I went from having a sore throat and stuffy nose to no symptoms in less than 48 hours. It has always worked for me very fast and I have not had to deal with feeling lousy for more than a couple of days vs a full week of being sick. You have to start it as soon as your symptoms start . If you wait too long it won't work.

great daily supplement
i've been using this product for over 25 years. Usually take these when i feel the flu coming on. This year i've taken it as a daily supplement. I've been around a few people at work with the flu and i've had no flu symptoms and so far have not had the flu this season. I received the flu vaccine as well this year. I believe this to be an extra bit of protection.

You have nothing to lose but whatever is making you sneeze and drip...
If you are drippy, sneezy, wheezy, cough-y, runny, sinus-y, miserable ... take four with a little warm water. You will feel much better, free or nearly free of symptoms, in half an hour or 45 minutes. Depending on what's wrong with you, your symptoms may simply clear up and stop troubling you. I don't begin to know how it works, but 1.4 billion Chinese people regard Yin Chiao the way we do aspirin. It works for me, I recommend it.
