You need to purchase a DC power supply to go with this. The output current is DC. The voltage out is controlled by whatever DMX lighting software or board you are using. This then allows you to control colors and brightness.

Q: Can i use this decoder for led strip lights below 12v? like 5v lights? or not, because lowest allotted power input is 12v?

This decoder Input Automatically adapt to DC12V-24V,And Output Max power load:240W(12V);480W (24V). it can't used with 5v LED Strip.
