A great enclosure for mounting on top of the deck or below.... well made, supplied with everything.
I read many of the positive and negatice views, and really can't understand why it received so many negative views, if the installer has some basic knowlege how to take an item apart and put back together they should not have any issues. The manufacture supplied everything necessary to install this enclosure. Once you take it all apart, including the small plate on the rear of the unit held together with six small screws, it is easy to add, and or use existing wires for their components. I didn't use the provided installation bracket, yet is was sufficent to hold component and enclosure in place, I used a direct method supporting the enclosure with 1/4-20 bolts with pvc spacers to mount on a bracket I made years ago to support an underdash CD player. Many said they were not able to mount a back brace to suppport the back of the radio, I find that laughable, with a few measurements and a tinnerman nut it was eash to mount the back of the unit using the supplied bracket from the stereo manufacture, and and a pan head screw, washer and rubber gasket. I was also impressed I could easily see the stereo display through the blue tinted cover. Nothing negative about this unit..... you can install the unit either with the door up or door down... I tugged on the door didn't break, I am sure this will work fine hitting waves with the door closed. I mounted my door with the hinges on the bottom since I couldn't see the unit with the door open with the hinges on top. This enclosure is well made and will support being supported directly by attaching through the enclosure. All in all I am very happy I chose this particular enclosure, and the price from Amazon made it an easy choice, I would have paid fifty dollars for this enclosure. I ordered and received within three days.

Highly Recommend
This was a nice gift I got my father for fathers day to house a stereo he was putting in his boat. He loves it. It looks great and will protect his radio well.

Not bad, if you have a little ingenuity! Priced right.
I can't for the life of me figure how anyone would need a "waterproof" stereo housing to mount in a boat is beyond me. I suppose it would be helpful if you plan on sinking your boat and you are concerned about getting the stereo unit wet - but that's hardly realistic. Yet, it appears this was Pyle's intent when they designed it. How you mount this, and how you use it will depend on how well designed or how well made you think it is. Some have complained the instructions don't tell yo how to use the wiring. That's not really a problem since the color coding is stamped on the case, although it's really hard to see. In my case, I didn't utilize it anyway. There are no real instructions - but instructions for something like this aren't really needed, especially since there are so many different ways to use it. Really what I needed was a housing with a cover to keep splashed water or rain out, and this fits the bill nicely. I had to alter it to fit my needs slightly though. I had more wires to my stereo than what is accounted for in the unit, so I just removed the wiring harness from the unit and passed my existing wiring through it. There's not enough room behind the stereo to pack all that wiring in anyway. It's really a poor design in that respect. It just doesn't work. Also, in order to get the stereo to fit in there tightly, I had to pack it around the sides to make sure it doesn't move around in there. The description says there's a "shelf" in the rear of the housing, but there is no "shelf". In fact there's nothing in there at all to secure the stereo so it doesn't move around. The design in that respect is a little sloppy, in my opinion. Others have complained the plastic mount is flimsy. No, not really. I would suspect that some people aren't utilizing all the screw holes that are provided in order to mount it solidly. You don't really need to use all of them, but I used 6 and that was plenty. It's plenty sturdy. Overall the unit is well made - with two exceptions. First, the "latch" that is molded into the plastic and designed to keep the lid closed tight was way too tight. I struggled to get it opened after it snapped closed very tightly. I had to file down the plastic with a moto tool and it works fine now. I shouldn't have had to do this at all. A spring loaded cover with a snap closure would have been a much better design. 2nd, The plastic "hinges" for the lid are too thin. I dropped it and it broke. Fortunately, the break was clean and I was able to super glue it together. I doubt it will last though. The gimble housing mount is convenient but not without shortcomings. It's a little too wide for the housing making it difficult to tighten correctly. Further, afraid to tighten it too tightly, I had to add two friction washers to keep the housing from moving up and down too easily (ie bouncing up and down while the boat is underway.). You can mount either above or below a shelf, with the lid opening up or down. The only downside in my opinion of having the lid open upward is the way the hinge pin is designed to work with friction, I suspect it will wear out quickly and no longer hold the lid in the "up" position. If that happens, I'll have to take it all apart again and reverse it. I gave it 3 stars because it accomplished my goal but I had to do too much work to get it to accomplish my needs. Also, the price was right. 26 bucks (including prime shipping) wasn't bad at all, and I got it from Amazon in two days. I didn't give it 4 or 5 stars because although materials wise it isn't badly constructed, the people who designed this thing probably never owned a boat.

Beautiful design and good quality case
Very durable water prove singe DIN stereo deck case with wire set for antenna, 12vdc power, spk signal wires, and 1 set RCA cables. Beautiful front hinged cover along with solid bracket. This is design for marine use purpose, so there is no holes or slots being cut for heat to escape that generated from radio. I had the radio unit run in my garage like 8 hours non-stop over weekend while I was working on other project. It got a little warm, but withstand fine. I use this case to hold DVD audio deck with quick disconnect as secondary stereo of my old Dodge van conversion. And, garage stereo deck when not using the vehicle. Love it. btw, I had to cut another V-groove in the back panel to run more wires from radio, then sealed it with RV glue.

Year round user
I bought this to use for a new stereo system I was putting out by the hot tub. It has been insalled for about 1 1/2 years and it works great. I'm from Missouri and we just had one of the snowiest winters on record. The housing protected my stereo through ice, snow, rain, hail & sleet. Great unit and great price. If you need to enclose your Pyle stereo, this is the enclosure for you.

The Blue Cover Will Break
The housing is sturdy, but the Blue cover that covers your stereo from water WILL break at the plastic hinge. It is not durable. I was hoping I could buy just the Blue Cover housing (that screws in) and tried reaching out to customer service, but they said there's no parts available and can't help at all since it was a couple months out of warranty. Pretty disappointed and I'm going to have to jerry rig something with a stainless hinge, or just buy one from another brand.
