Original 1 1/2"

I got retired, and all of a sudden my pants will not stay up when doing work on our Texas Gulf Coast Bungalow. Apparently my Glutes, such as they were, retired at the same time. Needed suspenders, stat. Tried the cheap Dickies suspenders; clasp fell off and disappeared after four days. See my pathetic review. Tried the 2" Carhartt suspenders; excellent quality, very comfortable. HOWEVER, a bit of a pain to wear WITH a belt, which I do primarily to avoid FORGETTING where I put the damned belt. The Perry Suspenders are NEARLY as comfortable as the Carhartt, slightly slimmer (1-1/2" wide versus 2" for the Carhartt), and super simple to use as Supplemental Pants Support (e.g. when you wear a tool belt or load your pockets with stuff). I especially like the REAR clip, which goes AROUND the middle belt loop in the back. Literally takes about 8 seconds to put these on and about three seconds to take them off. We'll see how they hold-up to hot sweaty Texas manual labor, but so far so good, and quite reasonably priced too.

Been buying this one for years and love them

I hate wearing suspenders, but I hate hiking my pants up every ten minutes even more. I inherited a similar pair of suspenders after my wonderful father passed away at 93. I wore them and wore them. After some time the elastic starts to lose its strength. I bought these suspenders to wear instead. They’re great. The plastic clips won’t scratch the leather seats of a car like metal clip suspenders. They’re easy to adjust and especially great if you’re very active doing yard chores or getting in and out of the car. I love wearing them on road trips because you can wear your belt a bit looser without risking your pants dropping. Less pressure on the abdomen for a six hour car ride is a real comfort. They’re comfortable and come in different colors. Why don’t you give them a try?

Embarrassing to say, but it's probably very relevant to other really fat guys, so I am 6'1" and pushing 450 lbs and these suspenders fit perfectly, even if I wear my pants low on my belly. They aren't even at the maximum length so I could presumably gain even more weight and the suspenders would still fit. The 1.5" strap is great for lightweight slacks but doesn't seem quite sturdy enough for jeans when doing anything physical, though. I am going to try the 2" version instead and see how they work. Rating only 4 stars because the rear hook broke after little more than a month of use. It caught on part of my door frame as I was getting into my vehicle and shattered. Maybe it shattered because I have been putting too much strain on them, but it still seemed like the plastic broke much more easily than it should have. Still, I don't know, so only removing 1 star instead of more. Couple things about these suspenders that I think could stand some improvement: 1. Stamp the "Perry" logo on the leather portion on the inside instead of the outside. As is it's a bit tacky when wearing the suspenders on the outer layer and can still often be read through a thin-material shirt worn over it. Better yet, remove the stamped logo entirely. These are comfortable suspenders and I'll shout out about the brand enough without it being advertised on me. 2. When I wear the suspenders as they naturally connect to the belt (with the clips facing inward) they will sometimes get knocked off the belt when I sit down or bend over. I can't just wear the suspenders "inside-out" since the rear hook will only work over the belt instead of under it. (Technically you could flip it around but then its center knock-out won't be able to grab onto a belt loop and prevent the clip from sliding around). To fix this I leave the rear clip over the belt and flip the front clips around so they fit under the inside of the belt instead of over the outside. This keeps everything connected nicely all day. However, having the straps twisted around gets uncomfortable and eventually causes kinked material under the length adjustment collar. If there was a better way to flip the front clips around so they go under the belt instead of over I would be a very happy camper. 3. How come the Big & Tall one is only ever available in green??

If you like using a belt, these are the suspenders for you. I really dislike the suspenders that use "alligator" clips. I've never had that type hold without coming loose and causing my pants to fall down. I tell folks that my belly can push down more than my butt can hold up. Hooking on the belt works much better. After I found this type of suspender, I haven't bought any other type. At first, I thought the plastic "hooks" would be too weak and break, but I've used these suspenders daily for years and never had one fail. One advantage is that you can loosen your belt a little and your pants still don't fall down! Thank you Dickies!

UPDATE: Removing 2 stars. I have to say that these have stretched out and become almost useless. These have NOT held up as well as the Dickies ones I had previously, and I am quite disappointed. They still attach well, but the straps themselves are next to useless, as I cannot adjust them anymore because the elastic strap fabric has stretched out of shape badly and frankly a lot faster than my previous knock-off Dickies pair. Too bad, I had a decent run with them for a while :( Expected to have them last alot longer.
