Best wallet out there!
Been looking for a way to slim my wallet down for awhile. Always heard good things about trayvax as a company and the products that they put out. Saw this Ascent wallet on here and had to have it. I got mine with the Mississippi mud with black frame and I gotta tell ya it looks damn good! I was able to take all my cards out of my thick bifold leather wallet and put them into this wallet with no issues.(7 cards+ 7 slips of cash) I did soak the wallet with cards inside for 10 min in a bowl of warm water though. Afterwards I dried it off with a blow dryer and once the leather was dry, I used some bick 4 conditioner to protect the leather. I then punched my own intitials into the back by the cash slot, because I saw no way to add an engraving on amazon. Came out looking great! Trayvax really knocked it out of the park with this wallet! Good quality saddle stitching, good horween top grain leather, and a melonite coated stainless steel frame with black oxide coated brass rivets. I’ve got my eye on their contour model next! This wallet perfectly disappears in my front pocket. Yes it is abit heavy for its size due to the metal frame, but I like that. Not only for the shear quality aspects of it, but in certain situations if you ever need a good defensive weapon, I suppose you can use it as a fist pack. You can probably use it as a hammer to drive small nails too! It’s that hefty and quality! Over all I’d highly recommend this wallet or anything else from trayvax if you’re looking to slim your dad wallet down.

6 months of use later
After owning the wallet for 6 months I felt it was due for a review. TLDR I love this wallet. Pros: Very attractive and gets better with time: I am a huge fan of letting my stuff age and patina over time and the quality leather of this wallet does incredibly well. Easy of card access: Cards are quick to get to and the top slot is reserved for the cards I use the most. They all fit very snug inside the wallet and I have never had an issue of them sliding out. Cons: Flexibility of space: You can only fit about 4 cards in the bottom slot and 2 in the top, any more and its too tight, any less and cards will fall out. Cash slot leaves a lot to be desired: The cash slot honestly is pointless, you would be luck to get more than 4 bills to fit and getting them out can be a hassle. I think removing that from the overall design would improve the atheistic. In a society moving cashless I hardly use it. Overall I am a huge fan of the wallet and had to be knit picky on the things that were considered "cons". I see this wallet lasting me years. I have recommended this to many family and friends for gifts and personal use.

Awesome wallet - you will love it!
I love it. It’s awesome. Better than expected and easier to retrieve my ID and credit card than my traditional wallet. Holds a bit of cash along with 6 cards relatively easily. The quick draw feature makes getting your ID and primary card a breeze. Made in USA - I will be buying more as presents for my nephews.

Beautiful leather tight entry point
Great quality leather. Very small footprint. Tight opening and difficult to get more than 3 or 4 cards in. If you need more room which you probably will, soak wallet for ten mins as per instructions and it will enable more cards. Also the money slot in the back is vert tight. Not good for more than two or three bills at most. This wallet is good if you don’t want the bottle opener and prying tools from other models from this quality manufacturer. Very compact. 65 year guarantee. To me that’s lifetime plus. Made Till I’m 125 years old. Made in the USA. I hope this review was helpful.

I'm really not a fan of most of the minimalist wallets out there (I.e. The Ridge, Ekster, etc.). They aren't really my style; and I'm of the opinion that this whole trend of minimalist wallets costing more than 4 times what you'd pay for just an ordinary leather billfold is getting pretty out of hand. I mean, you're effectively paying a lot more for quite a lot less. And in this case, a slab of steel and some leather can't possibly be worth over a hundred dollars... can it? I'll be honest, I took a risk buying this wallet, and I discovered very quickly after receiving it that, yes, it was 100% worth it. The level of quality and craftsmanship put into it far surpassed any $20.00 leather billfold I'd ever owned... the leather was supple, yet durable. The steel was machined extremely well, smooth and without defect or sharp edges. The stitching and rivets were precise and sturdy. You will understand what I am on about if you end up buying one of these things. They just feel good. That's not even taking into consideration the very practical benefits I have experienced by NOT having space for a bunch of stuff in my wallet: Prior to making this purchase, my wallet was a bit of a rats nest. Useless old receipts, loyalty cards, business cards and other crap like that. Most of this stuff I barely ever touched. My wallet had just become a place where I put stuff that I am too lazy to throw away. But because The Ascent is effectively only good for a few cards and some cash, it helped me clean up my pocket clutter by forcing me to only take what I need with me. Credit card, Debit card, drivers license, a couple other important cards and some walking around money. That's it. Simple and easy. And I have not once missed having more space. I know I sound like I am putting this thing on a pedestal, but it truthfully has revolutionized my every day carry. The final thing I'll say here is that it feels good to support a business that doesn't outsource their manufacturing overseas. I like knowing that my money is going to people that don't believe in keeping their prices high but taking production offshore to save on costs and increase profit. There aren't enough places doing that nowadays and I truly appreciate it. So yeah... Long story short, this thing isn't for everyone, not by a long shot. But for the good few people out there that are looking to downsize their EDC and replace their old beat up piece of horse leather with a durable, sensible, and functional minimalist wallet, look no further. You will not regret it.
