The Absolute BEST Ceramic Hot Curl Brush
Ladies, I love and die by ceramic hot curl brushes. I returned to this 80's invention in 2015. And, this model (1") is BY FAR THE BEST of them all. I have tried my best to locate a fair market priced 1-1/4" curling hot brush THAT gets extremely hot as this one. I've been through several other Conair models and foreign manu's -- none of them do.How these combed curling irons works best is --- EXTREME HEAT. Heat equivalent to a professional flat iron and by QUICKLY-yyyy moving your hair through (just like we do with flat irons) these combed iron brushes (in seconds) beautifully smooth out your cuticle, leaving a soft gorgeous gloss, and create a full body luscious curl (unlike a clamping curling iron can do, bc the clamping action is pressing the curl far too hard). You do not need to smooth out with a blow dryer first. For full volume... just blow dry, getting lots of texture, then let this smooth and curl. But they must get EXTREMELY HOT to achieve this (without all turning into some work). But also: I DO NOT want my hair in contact with the heated drum for more than a veryyyyyy quickkkkkk "set and sweep through." As, I want that curl to be hard set in for the evening. Only extreme heat will deliver this. And well, this model does this (so, start off with its lower heat option if your are a beginner;0)Though it may get a lot hotter than my other models (which, one can always dial the heat downwards if desired), because my hair is in contact with the drum for a splinter of time, this model is actually less damaging than the ones I have where I have to hold my hair wound super tightlyyyyy to the hot drum, wait, wait, wait... release, and only hope that curl sets (super irritating,)The 1" drum is best for medium to shorter lengths (or your front/top shorter layers). I'll continue to be on the hunt for a 1-1/4" model that gets as equally hot and is not ridiculously priced (fyi on this, I have previously found 1-1/4" drums that get super hot but a few months later they no longer do. It's like the internal heating coils take a nose dive).WARNING, HAIR ENTANGLEMENTS: Words of caution if you are not use to a hot COMBED curl brush... IF YOUR HAIR GETS LODGED, well, that's USER ERROR-rrrrrr, it's not the apparatus itself. So, begin in lower temperature settings until you get a reliable technique and unplug this immediately if you hair gets locked in (basically do not let your hair overlap several times).Enjoy!

Been using this product for 5 years
I'm on my third one in 5 years....love it but it does have a learning curve to use as it gets very hot and you will burn your fingers at first but you learn to use it without burning your fingers eventually. I can remember getting some gloves to use this curling iron when I first got it years back. I was so happy to see they were still making this item because it does an excellent job for curling. Here is what I have learned. The 1st one I had to replace was due to the screw end getting stripped and would not stay tight. I liked the fact that you can clean the black and red prongs as they do get coated with hair product over time just beware to use the correct screwdriver to avoid stripping the screw end. 2nd time I had to replace cuz the little teeth starting falling off and leaving several rows of the black teeth gone...still useable but since I found it again for such a good price got a new one and I will save this old one to replace any of the teeth rows that might go missing next time! But it might have been me cuz something I bang it on the door when I'm doing my hair in the morning. I'm planning on just heating it to the 2nd highest heat setting to prevent this from happening...maybe?? I love this product and might get one more to just have on hand in case they stop making it! Love that it turns off on its own if not used for 10 minutes or so!

Good Iron
As a veteran hairdresser this is a good iron. The temperature options are really good. Many people don't like brush type curling irons, but this one has hard plastic bristles (which is the best kind to use) because it causes less possible snagging. When using these type of irons it won't snag if you take cleaner sections and stay at least a 1/2" from the scalp. It helps give your hair lift. If you want body more than curl this can be combed directly over the top of your hair and smooth frizz which makes it a lot faster and less heat damage than sitting with regular irons. If you have longer hair go with the same type in a larger barrel. Great swivel cord and if you need a long cord, wow this has got to be the longest cord I've seen on an iron so good for the salon too. The only nit picking I could do would be the shorter black bristles on the barrel. I think it really is unnecessary and I prefer this type with all long bristles, but I am glad to have this among my beauty tools.

Effective and reasonably priced curling iron/brush
This is a very effective hot iron/brush and is at an attractive price. I recently had several small surgeries on my right hand which made it impossible for me to style my hair as usual with a blow dryer/brush since I'm right handed. My hair is fairly short, fine, and somewhat thin on top so I needed to have some way to style my hair but with only my left hand. After reading reviews about numerous types of curling iron/brush products that were in this lower price range, I chose this and am very happy with it. The little info pamphlet suggested heat settings for different types of hair which was helpful and accurate for my hair. This product enabled me to do a fairly good job putting a style in my hair which made me feel lots better. It heats up very quickly, and did just what I wanted it to do. You do have to take some care when putting it near your face since the alternate rows of red bristles do get hot, and the rounded tip also gets pretty warm. However, even using it clumsily with my left hand, I did not burn myself and was able to make my hair presentable. Very satisfied with this product.
