I recently purchased the Square Terminal and I’m very satisfied with it. The device is easy to use, fast, and allows me to accept all types of payments (card, tap, chip, and contactless). The screen is clear, and entering amounts is simple. It’s also very portable, so I can carry it anywhere for my business. The price is a bit high, but I think it’s worth it because it makes my work more professional and helps me serve customers faster. Ordered this for our store, easy to setup. Already had our Square account setup, so connecting to our account was easy. Wi-Fi was also easy to connect to, nice thermal printer, easy to replace the paper when needed. Functions work great and shows everything just as our account does when we use a computer or laptop.

I have both a traditional merchant account with a large bank, and a Square account because my business travels and sometimes a phone line is unavailable for my Verifone machines. Up until this Square register purchase, my staff were using Square phone readers (the plug in kind) on their cell phones where traditional phone lines were unavailable. Not a big deal, but sometimes phone batteries would run down quick. Same thing with the Square bluetooth cube: battery can run down much quicker and sometimes BT would disconnect when trying to make a sale. Additionally some customers didn't feel comfortable with no printed receipt, or their card being swiped on someone's phone. SO..this terminal is VERY NICE! It works exactly the same and looks the same as the Square phone app & dashboard, so no learning curve for staff. It even prints receipts, which is nice because some folks still don't want receipts emailed or texted. This machine worked flawlessly right out of the box, and after a whole day of use the battery had barely gone down. You can easily connect to wi-fi anywhere. A power cord and accessories hub was included in my purchase, so even if the battery gets low, a quick plug in will keep you in business. The accessory hub allows you to connect via ethernet cable if you can't use wi-fi, and it also has USB ports so you can connect other devices, charge phones, etc. The machine has a substantial weight to it and seems sturdily built. I can't think of any negatives; I'm really surprised at how nice it is. I felt it was a little pricey but perhaps that is because it is new, and unlike traditional terminals, doesn't require your bank to download software. So it acts more like a computer than a regular terminal. The print quality is very nice, and in your Square dashboard you can add a custom message to your receipts. You will also see any items you have created in your dashboard so you can keep track of which items sell the most; you can see and print reports from the terminal as well. Time will tell if it will hold up but for the first day of business it was excellent and I am very pleased with my purchase.

Absolutely a must have for any small business, service based or retail based. We use the Square Terminal in our shop and couldn't be any happier with it! It's super simple to use, works every time and Square constantly sends updates to make sure it's up to date with everything needed for my small business. The receipts print very nicely and even print your logo effortless on the receipt. The receipt paper can be found on Amazon for a very affordable price for bulk quantity too!! The one thing we love is that the Square Terminals syncs with your Square Account so you can make changes to products, services, receipt info, and everything else from their website and it will automatically sync to your Square Terminal. The battery life is also pretty amazing. If I didn't plug it in at all, it would last us for at least 2 days with constant use, that's pretty awesome and makes it a perfect portable solution. Another advantage is that the Square Terminal syncs directly with our POS Software so when we ring a sale and a customer wants to to using their card, it sends the info directly to our Square Terminal seamlessly. Not all POS Software Solutions support Square Terminal, but we are very thankful that ours does. Overall, if you are looking for an easy to use, durable, portable POS Solution that can accept credit cards and even print receipts for you, then don't hesitate to purchase the Square Terminal. Just so you are aware, I know my review may sound influenced, but I assure you I have not been influenced in anyway with writing this review. The Square Terminal is just that awesome and I think you'll love it too!

Great for a small business. Easy to use, prints receipts and is a decent price. Don't leave this Square terminal in sunny area. It will not function anymore. Also, had to purchase replacement charger cables as they don't last over a year. Square service is not helpful. Basically, on your own to troubleshoot issues.

It came in a timely manner & works

This Square terminal has been a fantastic addition to my business. I purchased it a year ago, and it’s been performing flawlessly ever since. The setup was straightforward, and it’s incredibly user-friendly, which makes processing payments quick and efficient. One of the standout features is its versatility. When I first bought this terminal 5 years ago it was truly the easiest and best investment I have ever made business wise. However it went out after a month shy of five complete years of being a work horse daily. So I bought another just like it to replace it. January 2025 AND BOOM. Got hit with the following email 4 months later AFTER JUST BUYING MY NEW ONE. Because they couldnt have said anything or you know TAKEN THE PRODUCT OUT OF DISTRUBUTION?! warning icon Your first generation v1 device will stop receiving software updates after September 1, 2025. What to expect after September 1 • You’ll still be able to take payments. Square will support critical security updates and bug fixes so your device can still process payments with its current software version. • Software functionality will remain as-is but you will not receive any new features or enhancements. • Customer support will be available to help troubleshoot when possible, but issues caused by device age or software bugs will require a hardware replacement.
