Right off, I found that the box could not be left unlocked without the lid standing open. I disconnected the spring to solve that. Took a while to get a pad installed to mount it, and longer to get the Postal Service to consider using it. Must be left unlocked or they will not. By that point the return window for this was closed.In use I find that the batteries run down in no more than a week — even if it is closed and unused. Nothing should be using power, but apparently something is. Worse, if I leave it closed and unlocked it relocks itself after a while. I work late, so I unlock it when I get home. By the time the carrier comes by in the morning (while I'm still asleep) the box has locked itself. I put a camera on it to make sure, and the lid has not been opened when it locks itself.I have written the manufacturer and received an acknowledgement that my case has been assigned, but three weeks later there is still no real reply.Cannot recommend this. If I get a response finally I will update this.****UPDATE****After poor response and unkept promises from a customer service agent she seems to have been replaced. The new one solved the problem immediately with a replacement circuit board, which was easy to replace. Suddenly everything is working exactly as I had originally expected. So yes, the box as received was a lemon. So was the rep. Both are now fixed and I can recommend these boxes enthusiastically.

Cool idea, poorly glued together electric panel on the first one, batteries exploded after 1 month. Second one, electric panel began malfunctioning after a few weeks too, but in a different way... too bad they didn't work out the electric panel issues with this one, or make the non-electric one accept larger packages.

I wanted to love this product. I really did. I bought two of these because I get a lot of deliveries. It took some fiddling to finally get one to work in ‘standby’ mode. I bought 2, but sent the one that didn’t work back for a replacement. That one didn’t work either. Something is wrong with the mechanics in these boxes. When I finally put my ‘working’ box out for use, it no longer worked either. I can’t return it due to the fact that I affixed a sign to it directing the delivery people to put packages in it. So, my packages aren’t ever secured even though they put the packages inside it. The concept advertised of ‘standby’ mode does not work. Even the keypad doesn’t respond. So, you will either need to leave it unlocked all the time, or use the key somehow with your delivery person.

This product is awesome. It’s sturdy and bolted to the cement on the porch. It works well and even has a little light on the inside of the box when opened. It locks automatically after the packages are placed. My packages are now always secure. Definitely made the right choice with this purchase.

In general I like this product and we use it on a regular basis, I didn't consider returning it. However there are some serious design flaws.After making some large signs for the box, the UPS, USPS, Fedex etc started actually putting the packages in the box, which is great. They don't always close the box hard enough to lock it, but even unlocked it's better than having package out in the open.The way that standby mode works, the box generally stays slightly ajar (it looks closed), until someone (the package delivery person) closes it with a normal amount of force. This is fine in theory. However, there is a refrigerator style switch (only goes on when door is open), that controls both the locking mechanism and a completely useless LED light to light the interior.There is no way to permanently turn off the light, and when the door is ajar (in standby mode), the switch does not engage, so the light is on. Taping the switch closed does not work. This obviously drains the battery pretty darn quick. I have tried removing/smashing the LED light, but it is surprisingly tough.I did contact the company but I did not hear anything back . To preserve the batteries, I ended up ripping out most of the refrigerator style switch (including the spring). This means that the light doesn't stay on if the remaining part of the switch is to the left. This mostly fixed the problem, although once the lock has been engaged, it's necessary to reengage the locking mechanism using the switch instead of it doing it automatically (not a big deal) and we have to make sure the switch is always placed in the off mode to the left so the light doesn't drain the battery.Some relatively simple design changes (making the light on a separate switch or having an improved/longer switch, or removing the stupid light entirely) would make this a truly great product, and I'm not planning on changing mine since there aren't a lot of this type of product on the market. However, it's important to be aware of these shortcomings if you are considering a purchase.
