Celtic Quilting
This book has many different Celtic design and it give a brief background of these designs. The pictures are colorful and shows the design to their best advantage. Very well organized, but would have liked to have more desins in the book.

Nice addition to my library
Ms Lawther has lots of hand needle work but also gives instructions on how to machine quilt many of the patterns.

not the best quilt book on my shelf.
not the best quilt book on my shelf. But a nice coffee table book. Nothing I want to sew in there, but some nice pictures.

A pleasant way to pass a winter evening
This was something I'd always wanted to learn but thought that it would be too difficult - it isn't. The hardest part was photocopying the pattern and then transferring it to the fabric, but I found a rather nifty pen to do the job which claimed that it would vanish if I sprayed the fabric with water; and as I had made a cushion from left-over material from my daughter's white silk wedding dress, I was dubious, but it did work, and it was very impressive to look at. I stitched the pattern by hand which I stretched over a large embroidery hoop, which makes it a hobby easily picked up and put down, without the usual mess of the 'sewing room'. However, because I worked with a light coloured fabric, it was easy to trace the pattern onto the cloth - I'm not sure how easy that would be on a darker material. The instructions are very clear and there are many interesting items to make - which can be used in a variety of ways. Use the text to learn the skill, and get used to different patterns, then apply that learning to really anything. The patterns are traditional - love knots and animals - and all quite acceptable for the novice.

very useful
Lovely book, divided into sections, each section covers a different type of celtic subject pattern to quilt and offers projects and variations for the reader to consider using. Has extra patterns at the back for you to photocopy.
