Yale Locks YALY22071 71 mm Weatherproof Padlock

This lock is certainly one of the best medium security padlocks available at a reasonable price and is eminently suitable for outdoor use. There are other alot smaller Yale padlocks which are quite a bit cheaper which claim they are waterproof and for outdoor use which I have tried and they have all ended up in the bin as they have become very stiff or even seized up after just a few months use. This animal on the other hand is well built, the mechanism is very smooth with built in anti attack security features, and is easy to operate. Once opened, the padlock can be locked without the key by merely pushing it snap shut. There is plenty of weatherproofing around this padlock. It comes supplied with 3 keys in a blister pack and was supplied next day by Amazon. I'm delighted.

These are seriously good quality padlocks. The lock feels heavy and anything that may be exposed is covered. The key hole is at the bottom and has a cover over which I'm sure will keep out the damp or frost. The same key fits all 3 locks so I don't need to be working out which key for which padlock.

I own 2 of these locks. The features built into this nice new lock to make it a bit more water resistant are nice and I expect they work for the moment. However the soft rubber seals stand significantly proud of the U-bolt and when inserted through a metal hasp the edges are likely to get damaged. In fact the rubber seals won't go through the hole in one of my gate hasps so i have had to remove one of the seals from one of my locks to use it. So I have two similar locks, one has a seal removed so that I can use it and the other is as Yale intended. I shall see how they fare during the next year or so. Seals are a nice idea as water ingress has killed most of my old locks, however the implentation seems to be flawed and I suspect the seals wont be effective for long with normal use.

It is a good all-round lock that acts as a visual deterrent to most. It also opens and closes extremely smoothly while being well protected from the elements.

Quality, sturdy, well made. All that I was looking for. That said this was my third attempt to get a decent padlock - there’s some real rubbish out there that I’d be able to break with pliers. ———— Update: despite first impressions, lasted three and a half months, now it simply won’t lock. So, rubbish as it turns out.

They're pretty nice, but as another reviewer mentioned, the free end rubber grommet easily comes off, and once that is off, it's no longer waterproof. I rubber glued the grommet onto the rubber shackle, but that's an annoying fix. The rubber should have been made with the grommet flange.

Bought this padlock as wanted a secure lock for our rear garden gate that didn’t rust. Whilst only owning it a few weeks it is exactly what I was after and appears to be high security. I also liked that it is coated with no exposed metal so that should help avoid any rusting or any need for WD40 on a regular basis but only time will tell. Comes with 3 keys and only thing I would like to see is the option to buy more than one lock which is keyed alike - but that’s a nice to have.

Got this for my side gate at house. It’s water proof which I like and the circumference between the clasp is quite small so would be difficult to get a bolt cutter in. Apart from that you will need a bit of room whilst putting key in at the bottom. On gate I have I am a bit hampered by a lip on gate but ideally you can just pull lock towards you and it will be fine. Overall very impressed and would recommend.

This is not 53mm lock it is smaller 48mm other is useles rubber. Shackle is basicly 6mm basicly thin covered with plastic coat. This product is not properly ranged not mentioned lock cylinder wich is basic as it can be. Also lock is poor assembled .... wery owerrated product.... From far away it looks god but in fact it is far from god.

Esta perfectamente protegido para las inclemencias meteorológicas. Además los materiales son de muy buena calidad. Lo recomiendo. Aconsejo prestar atención a sus medidas, puede resultar algo grande según la finalidad que le vayamos a dar. En mi caso lo utilizo para asegurar un arcón de jardín y es perfecto.
