Poor Finish Quality, Good Sound
I will update this review once my newly arrived pair has broken in and comment on the sound. For now, all I'd like to say is that the finish quality of these speakers is appalling. I returned a set of Wharfedale 10.2s for finish issues, and I did not expect to find a similar lack of quality in speakers that originally retailed for $800. To give you a comparison, I own a pair of mass-produced Klipsch RF42 floor standing speakers, they also have a black vinyl veneer. The veneer on the Klipsch speakers is almost flawless, no short cut or poorly glued corners. The Veneer of the Epos Epics is a very poor imitation of wood veneer and looks as though it was applied by a 10 year old (maybe the truth) and in the corners, where the veneer was poorly cut and seamed, the manufacturer's solution was to apply dabs of black paint to cover the exposed MDF. The woofer cones have some type of unusual, tacky like glue around the outer circumference. Apparently it attracts dust. I don't know if its possible to safely remove the dust, but I doubt it. The rear port tube is partially constructed of cheap cardboard (reminiscent of a toliet paper roll) and has rough edges throughout the inner diameter. Also, the speakers were covered in tons of dust. Only good thing I noticed during my initial inspection is the weight of each speaker. They're About twice as heavy as the Wharfedales.Update: I've only been listening for a few hours, they're not yet broken in and I must admit, I'm quite impressed with the sound quality. Allegedly it will only improve with time. Too bad they were finished with the same skill as a 2nd grader applying paper mache.

Neutral, uncolored, accurate, simply delightful
I bought these speakers from Amazon a year plus ago. In the mean while my entire audio system has gone through a bit of churn as I have upgraded. However, there is one thing I haven't changed and I don't intend to - it is the EPIC 2s. They are the most neutral, uncolored listening experience in the speaker world. To validate what my ears have been telling me for some time - I a borrowed a high-end microphone from my buddy at work and tested them with a test signal - the test showed a ruler flat response. I don't have a listening room - this is just my living room. The same test for speakers many times the price shows rift valleys. The speakers drop off at very low frequencies, you need a subwoofer if you want to hear deep thumps, but the mid range and highs are just amazing. Vocals are simply perfect, quartets sound amazing.
