Mermaids, Fairies, & Other Girls of Whimsy Coloring Book: 50 Fan Favs

I couldn't be happier with this book. I nearly didn't purchase it due to mixed reviews I'd seen, they commented on the faces being "the same" throughout the book. At first glance it may feel that way but like everyone Hannah has a specific style and she uses this throughout the book.which I feel gives it a beautiful flow. The style of these faces really allows you to play with how the look. You can add in different noses, play with contouring their skin and many other variations. I actually have found this allows the Colourist more creative allowances than many other books. The book includes a variation of close ups, details full bodied and background images sometimes with animals (a great way to practice animal colouring/fur & feathers without the pressure) and then several easier full bodied imagines with a plainer background. They are single sided meaning you can use anything you like to colour. Of course like ANY book alcohol markers will bleed (I haven't used paints yet). My advice is back it with card or remove it from the book if you think it will leak through. Either way I always put a few sheets of paper behind anything I'm colour even with pencils, as I press hard and this avoids denting the next piece. All in all I'm chuffed with this book. It is one of my absolute favourites. I will be buying her new book now this has been released and can only hope she continues to draw for us. ( I've added on my my finished pieces from the book, showing an example of how I added a specific nose style, skin light as I coloured her as a Geisha Mermaid.)

I am an adult who started coloring because it relaxes me and reminds me of childhood. I was attracted to this book because I like cute things and coloring fairies, mermaids etc. This is a great book as there are 50 images on singles sided good quality paper. I use copic markers to colour and the paper takes the markers well. You must put about 4-5 sheets of blank paper under your image when using markers to prevent bleed through. I don't like 'adult;' coloring books that are full of crazy patterns, I find them unpleasant. This is a great book as each image has plenty of detail but not so much that it becomes boring. The artist who illustrated this book is called Hannah Lynn, I like this so much that I wanted to buy more coloring books from her but unfortunately this is the only one available on Amazon UK. The artist does have more on her website but she is based in the USA and postage etc. would be too much. However, this cute book is sure to be successful and there will be more books to follow. I hope I can get a free copy on the next one to review on Amazon! hee hee!

I am going to visit my teenage niece shortly and decided on this book for her. She loves fashion and also loves colouring in. The fairies, mermaids and other girly whimsical pictures are just perfect. I liked the book so much I got an extra one for myself. The first two pages have a small example of each of the 50 designs in order of appearance. Most of the facial expressions are sultry and pouting and all have nice detail in the pictures. There are 50 different pictures in total, they are all bold black print and take up the entire page. The reverse page is blank. Each page has a double border frame around it in black and the pages are not perforated so care would need to be taken when you cut the pages out. I really like this book and it is suitable for all levels of colouring in and all ages. If you are using alcohol ink pens it would be advisable to put a piece of cardboard behind your page or it will run onto the other pages. I have added photographs for your convenience.

This book is really wonderful, it was a million times better than I had hoped! The images are so cute, girly and suitable for all ages! There is a nice mix of easier images and very detailed images, for all abilities and moods. The book is single sided, which is ace, Ive used pro markers so far and then 3 sheets of printer paper to protect the other pages. My daughter now wants a copy, and I want a second copy so I can colour it again!!

Lovely designs, on single sided paper. Quite thick black outlines, which I'm not normally a fan of, but suits these illustrations well. The cover gives a very good idea to what's inside. Looking forward to starting it, but may have to hide it from my 12 year old that will want to steal it! Fab book

This is a stunning colouring book. I've been wanting to get this for a while now and finally ordered it. At first I thought the paper was too thin but I worked with some alcohol markers and it came out perfect. As suggested in the book if you put three or four sheets of copier paper behind the piece your working on then it stops it bleeding through to your other colouring pages. The paper can also be removed so that you can frame your finished colourings. I have used faber castell polychromos pencils and kuretake kurecolor alcohol graphic markers so far and no issues. I can even use a blending solution for my pencils and it hasn't damaged the paper. You could easily encorprate chalk pastels within your work on this paper too. I have always found Hannah Lynn's art to be beautiful and in this book all the pages are just that. My only little issue is that it is slighty pixelated on some of her works from being increased in size but from a distance you can't tell.

Omg this book is beautiful and the pictures are amazing l. I'm so excited to get started!! Even thinking of ordering a second one just so I can colour it twice. Delivery was sooooo quick. Everyone I've shown the book to loves the details in the pictures. Best Buy!! The back of each page is blank So no worries about ruining another picture when colouring. This are such lovely pictures that once you have coloured them you might want to frame them!!

Viele wunderschöne Bilder zum ausmalen die Freude und Spaß machen. Wäre auch schön wenn man die einzelnen Blätter dann heraustrennen könnte, aber dafür ziehe ich keinen Stern ab weil man sie auch so heraustrennen kann bzw herausschneiden ;)

Ce livre est magnifique, tout simplement. Les dessins sont magiques et tellement beaux qu'il est impossible d'être mécontent du résultat, à moins de le faire exprès... On peut tout utiliser comme matériel sans craintes car il n'y a qu'un dessin par page. J'y ai même utilisé mes Promarker dessus. Un vrai bonheur ! Vous ne pourrez pas regretter l'achat de ce livre si vous aimez colorier. De plus, le prix est vraiment plus que correct. Il ne fait aucun doute que si l'auteur sort un autre ouvrage, je l'achèterais les yeux fermés.

This is such a cute book of girly-girl designs. There are 50 different designs, each with its own cute big-eyed girl. Some of the girls reflect fantasy and some are just cute girls. Each and every one of them is a fantastic opportunity to play with color and to style the design your own special way. I believe this is the first time Hannah Lynn has had a book of designs available in book form. The others that I have were purchased directly and were not books. This grouping is the top 50 fan favorites – so the best of the best (at least thus far!) At the front of the book, there are thumbnails that show you the pictures in order and also what their names are. I think this is a great way of doing a table of contents and I really appreciate that the names aren't printed on the design page. If I choose to put them there, this will give me an opportunity to do it my way. The book is printed on one side of thin but nice grade white paper. The pages are not perforated but the artist has put a double frame around each design with enough room so you can cut a page out without damaging the design. The binding is glued rather than sewn and I was able to break the spine enough to get the book to lay fairly flat to make coloring while leaving the page in the book a little easier. All of my markers bled through the paper. All of my gel pens left a shadow on the backside of the page. My coloring pencils worked really well with this paper as it is nicer than basic grade. If you want to use markers or gel pens, I suggest putting a heavyweight paper behind the page you are working on to keep the ink from seeping further into the book. As the back of the page is blank, you won't be ruining another design.

E' il secondo libro di questa autrice che acquisto e diciamo che mi completa la serie. Chi ha acquistato il volumetto tascabile può tranquillamente acquistare anche questo in quanto si tratta di disegni tutti diversi. Avendo un formato A4 i disegni sono più grandi e con più particolari. Il tratto caratteristico di questa autrice sono naturalmente le chiome ricche di curve. Il formato è stampato direttamente dalle officine Amazon su semplicissima carta A4, e i disegni si posizionano su un lato solo del foglio. Si possono utilizzare tutte le tecniche, ad esclusione di quelle che bagnano troppo la carta. Si possono usare anche i marker indelebili (tipo Sharpie) ma facendo bene attenzione di mettere due fogli sotto a protezione, altrimenti il colore passerà sicuramente. A chi piace il genere lo consiglio sicuramente.
