My son loves it.
Well this was an unexpected win. My son has visions of traveling Europe, playing Irish ditty’s on his tin whistle while backpacking around. He is already learning the basics on this instrument and is enjoying it immensely, all while entertaining us with his antics. We’ll see where this goes but for now, this is an affordable diversion.

Consistently great
I enjoy my Sweetones - the regular, the MEG , and the Celtic - they are ALL the same. I’ve 16 whistles, including a LIR and a Sindt - so I know what quality is.

Excellent for a beginner or for solo playing, but...
I bought this Whistle as a gift for my grandson, whose favorite color is red. I must confess I was disappointed when I opened the package when it was delivered. But that is actually my own fault as I did not read the product description carefully enough. The disappointment was the whistle does not come with a fingering chart nor with a storage pouch, which I should have known if I had read the product description more carefully. Important for a gift for someone, who currently does not know how to play a whistle, so I will end up giving my grandson a storage pouch and a fingering chart from one of my other Clarke whistles. The color of the whistle has a slight orange tinge to my eyes. So it is more of a chromatic red than the deep red color I had been hoping for. Since this is going to be a gift, I have not played the whistle itself, so the rest of my comments about playing the whistle are based on my experience with other Clarke Sweetone D Whistles. This is a very good whistle for beginners. The fingering holes are relatively close together making it ideal for the small hands of children , but still playable by adults. It has nice clear tones; not breathy like the tones of an original Clarke whistles with a partially wooden mouthpiece. It has a conical shape and takes less breath than whistles with a cylindrical bore like a Woodi or a Susato whistle. Taking less breath to play, it is also much easier to play notes in the second and third octave, and so would be less frustrating for a beginner, who has not yet developed breath control, to learn on. It also produces less volume than a cylindrical bore whistle. I play my own Clarke whistles when I am by myself and do not want the volume I would get from one of my cylindrical bore whistles. But less volume also makes it not as ideal if you plan to play with other people playing other instruments. My last comment has to do with the price of this whistle. The whistle by itself requires shipping. When shipping is taken into account, the whistle turns out to be slightly more expensive than other Clarke whistles (which include a fingering chart and storage pouch) that are available with Amazon Prime shipping.

Fifth hole in the wrong spot
I don't like that the fifth hole is in the completely wrong spot

Great Whistle for the Price!
I love this little whistle! It has been so much fun learning how to play it and it makes me want to get other variations of whistles. It's great for beginners and I think nice for experienced players. And the red color is just really pretty!

Very poor sound quality.
Very disappointed. Has 9 finger holes to make different notes. The last 3 holes don't change the note being played at all. Doesn't play the full range it is meant to play. I like how it looks, but the music it makes leaves a lot to be desired.

Love this!
I love this whistle! I am a beginner. I bought a different brand first, then this one a month later. It’s way easier (for me anyway) to have clear notes in the second octave. Fun AND beautiful!

Probably the best whistle for your money
Probably the best whistle for your money. I have them all Generation, Feadog, Freeman Tweaked, Dixon, and this little guy is the easiest to play with the best consistency across its range. Great for the beginner, but lacks the volume and tends towards the chiffy side of the spectrum.

Lovely whistle from clarke....really suits the name...sweet tone...it's really easy to hit the higher notes,,,but the sound is quite airy and feeble,,,not as loud as my waltons....but loved it!!! Worth the money...

Super. Wie erwartet nach ausführlichen Recherchen. Bester Ton. Weich und rund. Habe 3 ähnliche tin whistles bestellt und tatsächlich ist es die beste. In meinen Ohren jedenfalls.
