Wirewound Resistor 3 Ohm 100W Aluminum Case Chassis Mounted Resistor - 2pcs

I measured 3.1 Ohm with the nominal 3 Ohm-cm. This is within 3%, within a normal tolerance range. I used them, connected in serial, as a load to measure internal resistance of a 12 volts SLA battery. They were dissipating around 8.6 watts each when connected to the battery. I put them on an aluminum plate (without any screws or heat conducting paste). Without cooling fan, their temperature reached slightly over 60 degrees Celsius and they started stinking. With a cooling desktop fan, the temperature dropped to more comfortable 40 C. I cannot say how they would run at 100 watts, but my guess is that without a massive radiator, they may be glowing red. They are relatively small and I doubt they can dissipate more than 10 watts without additional cooling. This is what I expected, most power transistors also need radiators to provide cooling to work at full power, nothing unusual with these resistors. Just plan accordingly.

I ordered these to put in the wiring harness for my taillights on my 2015 Silverado. I upgraded to LED bulbs and without these I got a regular warning message saying the bulbs were bad, and the hyper flash also drove me insane. Soldered some connectors on from harbor freight and soldered the wiring into the harness and since then the problem is fixed completely.

Product was as expected

The items look good enough. They are clearly labeled as 100 W 3 Ohm. As it turns out the actual measured value of 4.5 ohms may NOT be a huge issue for me. But other buyers beware!.

Installed the 100W 3 Ohm in a 12V automotive application to correct turn signal hyper-flash after an LED light conversion. Mounted these direct to the metal chassis for optimal heat dissipation. Purchased and installed in August, but one has already failed within 60 days. P = E^2 / R ---> (12 Volt)^2 / (3 Ohm) = 48 Watts Failed in 60 days running at about 50% of rated load capacity.

Second time I've tried these resistors (first time was a different seller) both times have been junk! And I'm still waiting for my refund!
