could I use it to refill a sodastream cola bottle and still use the cap to measure or would the measurements be way off?

You guys keep mentioning this being used for sodastream. I don't think giving it negative answers/feedback is at all fair considering this particular box of syrup isn't meant for sodastream or any other kind of at home soda making.. Its made for fountain machines, and nothing else. Yes, you can attempt to use it as an at home self mix soda set up, but dont give it bad reviews when it doesnt taste right or come out the right way, because it wasn't intended to be sitting on your kitchen counter and mixed with your sodastream. As far as price and expiration dates, you're not buying this from coca cola or most likely not even an authorized coke distributor. You're buying this from someone who's stock piled some or maybe a restaurant owner with a coca cola account who's ordering more than needed and selling on Amazon for a profit. The price also reflects the fact its not made for home use as this thing is $79.00.. 2 liters are around $2.00 (give or take)  in alot of stores.. This thing makes 15 gallons of soda, or (28) 2 liters, which bought in stores is $56.00 give or take..  So youre paying $20 extra to do it at home and not even get it to taste right. Just buy 2 liters or cases. These are for restaurants and such; places that charge by the glass and can still make a profit.

Dated usually about 6 months after purchase; goes bad in my experience after 18 months or so.

Does it have to be refrigerated once opened?

The syrup does not require refrigeration. However, soda quality depends on carbonation, which depends on temperature. Soda water/seltzer needs to be cold in order to be and stay carbonated. Mixing warm syrup with cold seltzer will not produce the best quality soda beverage. Also, keeping the syrup in a cool, dry area will keep it good for a longer period of time.
