MSX SUB 200 (White, MINX X201)

Cambridge Audio is a long-established British supplier of hi-fi and sound systems. Their products are designed and developed in the UK but, I think, manufactured in Asia. So we float products halfway around the world to get them back to where they were conceived! Never mind. Their speakers are a good investment. I was foolish enough to spend too much money on a Bose setup when I moved house a few years ago. It was expensive and the sound - to say the least - disapppointing. I have a Marantz AV receiver, which I'm delighted with, and was looking for a set of speakers to replace the Bose. After a lot of research I discovered that Cambridge Audio surround systems seemed to tick all the boxes. I wanted something that did not dominate my living space but produced a good solid sound image when playing feature films and music. The Minx X201 subwoofer combined with M12 and M22 satellite speakers is a formidable performer. The bass is extended but not boomy and the satelitte sound is clear and smooth. The sound image is stable and the surround effect convincing. However, if you decide to invest, beware that it's essential configure the set up correctly. It probably works best if you have all the speakers from one manufacturer. There is a variable crossover setting on the X201, as well as volume and phase adjusters. Phase setting is zero when combined with the Cambridge Audio satellite speakers. The settings are straight forward compared with the variations available on the Marantz and it really is worth persisting with these to get the best out of the setup. It represents excellent value for money and the whole system is very unobtrusive. It is said that with loudspeakers a good big 'un will always beat a good little 'un. I agree with that but don't want my living room to resemble a sound studio. This is a good compromise.

WHY THIS..... because sound bars cancel the tv speaker system, even the Sony soundbar - just allows the TV to be a center speaker when connected BUT this set-up Bravia-DAC-Cambridge Audio Minx X201 keeps the sound as it was meant to.... Great little sub. Bought for a home theatre setup to compliment Q Acoustics 3010/90 speakers. I didn't want a huge big ugly box in the living room, nor a boomy sub that would keep everyone awake at night. This is perfect. It looks tiny, it looks great in white with a glossy finish - can be easily hidden away or be on show in a modern living room. Most importantly, it sounds fantastic. With the three drivers (one active, two passive) it makes the utmost of its tiny form factor. But it adds the right amount of perfectly clean, tight and deep bass to a 5m x 5m room. Great for music, and great for TV/Movies as part of an AV setup. If you're looking for something to rock your entire house, then look elsewhere, but if you're looking for something that looks great, sounds great and rocks only your living room then I can't recommend this enough.

I have a fairly normal sized living room and this box can produce obnoxious levels of noise for it if required. Added that missing low end to my speaker set up, pleased with it.

Poor quality control. Issue with a manufacturing defect on passive speaker. Internal screw pushing out seal rim. Sound was medicore at best.

exactly 2 years today now its making crackling noise, its gone so its look like it's been designed to work for 2 years i really liked it good sound and bass

Modern gloss white finish, great sound from a very compact footprint. I have it to underpin some Monitor Audio Mass surround system speakers and it provides the desired kick on both music and hd DVDs. Very satisfied with my buy.

Perfect addition to our kitchen/lounge extension. We have 4 Dali ceiling speakers which are great, but lacked depth. I was worried that the size of this woofer would limit the impact of sound in the room. I had no reason to worry. The sound is immersive and fills the room with a much needed bass boost. It is well made, and even the wife is happy as it looks great. Very pleased!

Sa petite taille et sa puissance sont bleuffantes. Il nécessite un réglage à l’oreille précis, une fois le bon équilibre trouvé il est nikel, aussi bien pour la musique que pour le home cinéma. Les basses sont plus précises que profondes alors un réglage trop poussif le rendra agressif. Couplé à une paire d’enceintes hifi il assurera la profondeur que les enceintes de bibliothèque manquent.

Compattissimo ma gran suono. Abbinato a kef q100 per musica medio bassa. Riproduce bene fino a 30hz. Suono pulito e piacevole senza distorsioni. I 20hz nn si sentono proprio ma anche il mio udito fa fatica.

This is absolutely amazing , what a difference it makes in a home hifi system , on recommendations from hifi reviews I bought it and am more than pleased , definitely HiEnd quality , thank you Cambridge Audio !

Schöner kleiner Subwoofer für'n PC oder als kleine Ergänzung für eine 2.1 Anlagen. Habe sie Mal an eine Kef LS II angeschlossen man an den Unterschied gehört.

Utilisé en complément d'enceintes bibliothèques, ce caisson est étonnement musical. Nécessite d'y passer du temps pour un placement et réglage optimal. Puissance largement suffisante pour ma pièce de vie de 35m2, l'idée étant de ne pas trop forcer le volume pour qu'il se fasse oublier. Compact il passe le WAF.
