The oil seems to be good and works well while honing steel blades.

Have only used once but seemed to do what is supposed to. I feel it is hard to control getting just a drop or two out where and when you want it, came out a little too freely.

Good quality honing oil. Not too messy. Unlike some other oils I’ve used, Smith’s is easy to wash off your hands with some regular hand soap. The odor doesn’t linger after you wash it off

Does what it's intended for. I sharpen knives and use my honing stones for other purposes. The product is excellent.

Just sharpened some of my knives with this new oil. It seems to work ok, but the oil beads up like water on a non porous surface. I'm not sure if that's good or bad, but all of the honing oils I've used over the years have absorbed into the stones. This oil beads up & rolls right off as soon as I apply a knife edge. I can't really tell if any of the oil is staying on the stone & doing it's job. I've tried rubbing the oil into the stone with my finger before sharpening the knife, but all it does is break up the large water beads into smaller beads. On re-reading the info on the product page, I now realize it's a water based product. I don't understand why they made it a water based oil instead of a petroleum based oil.

A very light effective lubricant for sharpening blades. Clears material well. This is all I use and I give it as gifts.

This is quite used and appreciated for sharpening knives and cutting tools using mineral based e.g. Aluminium oxide oil stones. Is light and supports to sharpen while spreading the slur collected. Great product although price is around 3-4 USD only in USA but in India is charged a premium. But thanks to amazon that such products which are neither made or easily available in shops or online in India are available now. The 5 star rating is for the product. The seller will great 1 or 2 star only for escalating the price so much. THANKS

I own a couple of Smith's Diamond Stones and had previously used to sharpen my knives either dry or with water, or a mixture of detergent and water After some research, I found out the best way to sharpen my knives with my Smiths diamond stones was with their own brand honing solution. Wowsers what a difference it immediately made!. These 2 products were made for one another It radically increased the speed I can sharpen my chef's knives and makes the whole sharpening experience easier There are a few similar on the market but for the crazy inexpensive price for the amount I totally recommend buying one or two..
