Review: GREAT lock without batteries to worry about - This is an excellent mechanical keyless door lock. The construction is solid, durable, and feels like a quality piece of hardware. It has an elegant appearance that looks much nicer than many electronic keypad locks, and I really appreciate that it requires no batteries. That's a huge advantage—there are no batteries to replace and no worries about electronic failures. The only limitation to be aware of is the way the combination works. Your code cannot contain repeated characters. For example, codes like 2026 won't work because the number 2 repeats, and 007 won't work because 0 repeats. Instead, you create your code using unique characters from the available buttons (1–9 plus A and B). As long as you're comfortable choosing a code without repeating numbers or letters, it's a fantastic lock. It's well-built, reliable, attractive, and maintenance-free.

We needed to secure a door but didn't want to invest in a lot of money to do so. This is a unique lock, in that there is no battery that will need to be replaced. No key needed. I installed this on my outer door to our porch. Double check that you have clearance above the doorknob since this is very tall. My son and I took out the old doorknob, used the template to mark where to drill, and got the new one on in probably 45 minutes total. Changing the combination was very easy! I wish there were other colors, like oiled bronze or brass, since silver is a weird aesthetic for our house. Nevertheless it is sturdy, easy to use, and we have no complaints! I changed the inner door two years ago with a deadbolt and just wanted a doorknob for the porch door. My kids can use it easily and no one loses keys! We live in an area that gets snow and the winters are dark, and this knob is great. No batteries to run out and a rubber/silicon pad to keep it weather proofed. Be careful that you get the right or left opening depending on your door, the other won’t work due to the locking function. To lock it, you lift up either from the inside or the outside, it’s that easy!
