The Best Headset Available on the Market but Have the Right Expectations
This headset is not perfectly perfect in every way but it is the best that you can buy. This is the only headset in the Plantronics lineup listed as having "premium" quality sound. It is Plantronics' flagship headset. Plantronics is the industry leader in earpiece headsets. If you are looking for the highest-quality headset you can buy, look no more. You have come to the right page. The primary complaint I've read about on the Plantronics customer service site is that after two years the battery will die a natural death due to old age. So do realize that this will not last forever. If your battery dies while the headset is under warranty, that's too soon and Plantronics will replace it. If your battery dies in less than 2 years but out of warranty, Plantronics is currently offering customers substantial discounts to buy replacements. (Save your receipt! Scan it if you're paperless. Or buy it from Amazon where they will keep a record for you.) I just bought my second one - the first lasted about 4 years for me with light use. I did read that some can get extra life out of their battery by putting the headset into a ziploc and then into the freezer overnight... so if you're here for a replacement, you might try that first and buy a little more time. I got a few extra months out of mine by discarding the (optional accessory) case I was using to charge it and by charging it directly through the OEM cord that came with it (so save that too!). WHAT YOU GET: Packaging is Easy to Open: there is a large sticker sealing the opening to the smallish box closed. That is easily cut with a pair of scissors. Then pull out the cardboard wings that are tucked into slots on each side of the front of the box and open it up. - Plantronics headset (battery is permanently installed) - Proprietary charging cord with separate wall plug - Two additional ear plugs -- larger and smaller than the one preinstalled on the headset - Foam covers for the ear plugs, to use or not as you prefer - Instruction Booklet - Instructions on Firmware Update - Safety Warnings - Some stuff in another language The cord is USB on the wall end and proprietary on the headset end (only matches the headset). That means that you can plug the cord into the computer to get firmware and software updates from Plantronics (which is the first thing that they recommend you do upon unpackaging your headset). The cord is short, just under 10" long (without the connectors). It's easy to change the ear plugs in and out so that you can try different sizes. You just press in and turn to the left. To insert one, you press in and turn to the right. (All of this is in the instruction book.) I found that I could use the small or the medium. I'm a 5'7" woman who weighs more than she should but you wouldn't hate sitting next to me on a plane. The ear plug sits loosely just inside your ear. You may not even feel it. It's definitely not a snug fit and you will hear surrounding sounds in both ears. What keeps the headset in place is the rest of it, not the ear plug. The boom mic is adjustable. I found it was directly pointed toward my mouth in it's lowest position. The device has a call button on the round part, from which the boom extends. That's for taking and ending calls if you don't want to use voice commands, which also work. On the underside of the boom is another button that mutes calls among other things. There is a volume rocker on the upper back part of the largest part of the device -- the part that goes behind the ear. And below that is the on/off switch. At the bottom of the back is the charging connector -- just a bit of recessed coppery looking metal. It reads "Plantronics" in very subtle small pale gray lettering at the bottom of the largest part of the device, on both sides. You can see where it is in the small shiny black part at the bottom of the picture. If you have the right expectations (it's not a magic genie... It may only last for two years... A very few of them will be defective and will require replacement...), you will be delighted with your purchase. You will not find better sound quality anywhere else. If you are used to music headphones, the looser, more open feel of the headset in your ear (or barely touching the front of your ear), might take some adjustment. I highly recommend this product and am confident that, if after reading this review you still want it, you will not be disappointed. UPDATE: One feature I have come to really appreciate is the voice commands. Some parts of my house get spotty cell phone reception. So, when I'm wearing the headset (during work hours), I always leave my phone in a "good reception area" of the house. If a call comes in, I don't have to rush back to the headset to pick it up, I just say, "answer" and the headset picks up the call. If the caller is in my address book, the phone will announce who's calling. If I'm silent or say "decline," the call is not picked up.

Best bluetooth headset I've ever used
This is easily the best bluetooth headset I've ever used. I have had the pleasure of testing out many different bluetooth models for various manufacturers, and the issue I always run into is comfort. I have small ears so the over the ear designs are always falling off, and the ones that rely on an earbud alone to stay in place have always been too big to fit properly and end up popping out as well. While the "default" earbud that comes with the headset is too big for my ear, it includes two other sizes, one smaller and one larger. The smaller one fits well and the foam replacements you can buy here on Amazon fit even better. I have worn this for hours while talking to my fiance on a long road trip and it stayed comfortable the entire time and never fell off once. Comfort and fit is a big deal to me, but call quality is also extremely important. I've tried calling many different people, on various different phones. All reported that I came through loud and clear, which is a big deal for me because I tend to speak softly and if I don't have a boom right in front of my mouth, I'm often not heard well or at all. The boom on the Voyager Legend, even though it doesn't come anywhere near my mouth, is able to pick up my voice easily and deliver it clearly. I also did a few tests to try out the background noise filtration and I am absolutely amazed. I called my fiance while in a car with 3 other people talking and laughing with each other and noise playing quite loudly. He reported that he heard none of it, only some muffled sounds he couldn't distinguish but weren't at all distracting or obtrusive. I didn't quite believe him, so I tested it myself in a similar scenario and was very surprised at how well it blocks out everything but the caller's voice. It's a great feature if you're constantly on the go and around other people. I am buying one for him now because every time he's driving in his Mustang, I can barely hear him over the noise of the car, especially when he's running the AC. Incoming call quality is also superb. I had been using Apple earbuds with my iPhone 6 Plus for months because none of my other headsets were comfortable for long periods of time or stayed in place. I had been craving a wireless headset as I tend to talk a lot throughout the day and I don't like being tied down to my phone. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I had my earbuds and/or iPhone yanked away because I got hooked on something. The Voyager Legend is so light and comfortable, I completely forget it's there until I get an incoming call. I wasn't sure if I'd be okay with wearing it all the time due to wanting to avoid the whole techie nerd look, but even with the extended boom, my long, dark hair covers it almost entirely. Even when it doesn't, I don't think it looks bad at all. In fact, it's the nicest looking bluetooth headset I've seen. The Voyager Legend doesn't skimp on other features, either. You have access to a completely hands free device at all times. When a call comes in, you will be told who is calling and then asked if you want to answer the call. You can say "answer" or "ignore". You can also push the call button to answer as well as disconnect. Pushing the talk button while not on a call will prompt you for a voice command. If you have an iPhone, you can hold the call button to activate Siri. The mute button also has multiple functions. It can mute/unmute the call and can also pause or resume music playback. It's nothing super fancy, but it's all I need. One of my favorite features is the auto answer/disconnect feature when the headset is put on or taken off. If I have the headset in my purse and I get a call, I can put it on and it answers the call automatically. Another huge bonus for me was purchasing the optional charging case. The Voyager Legend provides an estimated 7 hours talk time and it seems to hold true to that. However, I take a lot of road trips and I needed a way to charge it on the go. The charge case charges in 90 minutes and will recharge your headset twice on a single charge. It's fairly compact and protects the headset very well with it's hard shell, so it's perfect to toss in my purse. It charges the headset pretty quickly. From what I've seen, you can't use the headset while it's charging so this was a must have for me. I also purchased the desktop charger which holds the headset in place nicely so there's no fear of it accidentally getting under something and getting broken. Even if the extra chargers aren't needed, an extra charging cable is highly recommended. It uses a magnetic charger, much like the MacBook chargers, and can only be charged with the included cable (unless you purchase the charge case). The included cable is extremely short, but you can buy a spare for cheap here on Amazon and it's much longer. It's always nice to have a back up, especially for such a unique cable that can't be found in most local stores if you happen to lose your original one. Overall, it was a great purchase and I'm so glad to have it. My other headsets are collecting dust now!

Automotive Technicians Best Friend
I usually do not write reviews, but these headsets are increasing popular and are safe for everyone to use on the road so I thought I'd give it a shot. I am an automotive technician by trade and I use this headset everyday at work. From the moment I walk out of the house for the day up until the moment I get back home this is on my head. The battery lasts very long and I do not find myself recharging it during the day. This headset works excellent for me, and the noise canceling features must work very well, because when using it in a busy and noisy automotive shop, I have never had a caller unable to hear me. I also like that I am able to pair both my personal phone, and my work phone at the same time. Throughout my day I also steam music and the quality is fair for what it is, a bluetooth headset. I have been very impressed with how durable the headset has been. Sweating in the hot summer sun at work, and dropping it, touching it with greasy and oily hands has not proved to be an issue with this device. It is functioning very well and I can guarantee I am much harder on this headset than most other consumers are. PROS: -Good Battery life -Noise cancellation -durability -sound quality -2 phones paired at one time, voice commands, etc CONS: -Does tend to get a little uncomfortable on your ear after prolonged wear, but after 2 weeks I got used to it -Not stylish- in public you tend to look like a burger king drive thru worker All in all, if this was stolen or lost, I would not hesitate to buy another. I have another headset that is smaller for use when in public and not at work, and it is also a plantronics. I have no reason to search elsewhere and I have been very happy with this and other plantronics headsets. As always, my experience with Amazon.com was also perfect, speedy, and problem free.

Best headsets I've found, but ...
Update (2023-07-02): I'm leaving my previous review intact below and adding a few thoughts. Most of it still applies to some extent. But ... this is the best headset I've ever had for my purpose, and I still can't find anything better. I don't talk on the phone any other way. Better? Noise cancellation and sound quality has been good on most of the 11 I've owned (yes, 11). I think some were counterfeits. Everyone can understand me on the other end, and many I've talked to had no clue I was going down the road (even with the windows down). The last one I bought was in December of 2022. I have two that still work fine. I don't know if the most recent failure is one of the more recent purchases, or a very old one. It literally wore out. The last two that failed lost their skins. I bought my first one in April of 2016. I only have one reason for not upgrading to the 5200. I despise micro-USB. I love the magnet connector for these. I can just reach up and pull it off the charge cable and put it on my ear while driving with minimal distraction. I carry two on the truck within reach so that when one battery gets low the other is right there. I can even snap the charger on the headset without having to see it. Try that with micro-USB. So, if you have time and patience to fiddle with micro-USB, by all means get the 5200. It's a better headset in every way, except for that. Poly seems to have migrated this headset over much better than they had at the beginning of 2023. There's a new app, and it works. I haven't tried to update the headset online with a PC since the end of 2022. If Poly would update this headset's internals, and leave the size, shape, and charger intact, I'd pay more for that one than another one of these. If I knew that they had, I'd be buying one from their website. There are numerous SKUs of this headset. There's no way for us mere mortals to know what the differences are, if any. I suspect that one or two of the FFP models were counterfeit, but I'm going to gamble again. The warranty will be out long before any problems become apparent. Then I'll buy another one ... or the Voyager Legend 2024. I am buying another one so I'll have two spares. Only 2 of the 11 are left. I started keeping one at home too. My wife is still using a 5200, but she has a couple of these ... somewhere. Previously (circa January 2023): I think I've purchased my last Legend, even though I haven't tested it yet. It's time to find something better, and that's going to be hard. My ear fits these too well. Be aware that this headset appears to no longer be fully supported online. Plantronics is now Poly. I just downloaded the latest version of Plantronics Hub from Poly's support site, which appears to be the remnants of Plantronics support site. When I run the Plantronics Hub and try to update the headset I get, "Plantronics Hub is unable to connect to the server." I suspect that the update server no longer exists, though I can't be sure. The most recent firmware version is v.109, and may be the last one. That doesn't take away from the quality and usefulness of the headset at all. It's still the best noise-cancelling headset I can comfortably wear. Driving a truck I wear one all the time. Having said all that, I have had issues with some of the ones I've purchased more recently, and my wife has too. Some of them don't cancel noise as well as others, though they all come up as the same product, and the same firmware version. Early on, they were all flawless. Lately, they're not. We've had a couple that failed before we managed to destroy them ourselves. And it's possible that more modern devices don't connect as well to the older version of bluetooth these support. This is a very good legacy product. Last note: My wife has one of the newer 5200s, and didn't like it nearly as well as these.

Best earpiece
Have tried several earpieces: BlueParrott, Bose. These simply fit your ear the best and, in my opinion, work the best.

Excellent product, but... read review.
After buying a lower quality similar type of headset, and returning it because it broke 3 weeks after purchasing it, I can tell you that every single cent you pay more for this product is worth the money. The quality is extraordinary, the sound quality is crystal clear and the battery life is actually 7 hours. The sensor to transfer the call to the phone when you take the headset away from your ear is very clever. I just love it. After using it for almost a year, I have a couple of complaints for the earpiece. I still think is a good product but beware that it is not perfect. 1. After using it for 6 months or so, it kept telling me that it had less than two hours charge. I would plug it to the charger and after an hour, it kept on giving me the same message. I left it charging overnight with the same results, both using the charger case and the USB cable provided with the earpiece. Then I looked for solutions in the internet and I found out that placing it for an hour on a metallic surface will re-calibrate the sensors. I did that and the problem went away. Apparently the headphone was charging but the sensor was not registering the charge level properly. It has done it a couple of times again but I always ignore the message and place it on a metal surface when not using it. Minor inconvenience. About 9 months into using it, a new problem came up. I can have the headphone charging overnight still linked to the telephone and when I wake up in the morning and try to use it, the headphone disconnects from the telephone. I have to turn it off and on again to link it back to the telephone. It has been doign very frequently now. It bothers me because I used to pick up telephone calls just by grabbing the headphone and placing it on my ear. It is no longer the case. I have to turn it off and on again in order to do it now. Sometimes I lose the calls due to the extra time it takes to do this. When the call is important, i just opt to pick it up with my phone in the regular mode and then reconnect the Bluetooth headphone during the call. Not good.

Has some great features, but...
I bought this for my wife but she's not thrilled with it. It's a little heavy - perhaps twice the weight or more of the Voyager 520s she has used for years. It doesn't have the in-the-ear fitting, it's more up-to-the-ear. I think that will just take some getting used to. My wife isn't really excited about it but I think that it announces callers by contact name rather than by number is pretty cool - especially when you can't immediately reach or find your phone. Voice answer is good, too, but takes a little practice to satisfy the voice recognition in the headset. So, why 3 stars instead of 4 or 5? The proprietary charging system is why. After having spent years buying expensive proprietary charging devices, especially expensive when buying car chargers, for Plantronics headsets I had hoped that Plantronics had joined the rest of the industry in using micro-USB for charging like my Motorola HX550 does. Instead, I find myself having to buy a bunch more proprietary chargers. The charger cable connects magnetically and is easily dislodged, leaving you with an uncharged headset. Even worse - terrible, even, is that the charging cable is only about 1 foot long! That means that you have to plug the thing in and reach to the floor just about to get to the headset. I don't know about you, but I don't have tables 12 inches off the ground right next to my outlets. Hanging a magnet connection by the heavy headset pretty much means the headset is on the floor. This charging system is just about the stupidest thing I have seen in cellular phone accessories. So.. that's why 3 stars. Update 7/12/14. After having this a few months I have to update. No longer is it worthy of even 3 stars but it's not quite bad enough to get one star since I haven't yet thrown it away. My wife eventually refused to use the headset and I got stuck with it when I lost my Voyager 520 - we had used those for years. What I found with the voyager legend is that, for all it's high-tech features, it really fails as a functional tool. Voice recognition on the phone is broken. On the 520, redialing always redialed the last dialed number - what you expect from redial. With the Legend, redial is not redial; it's dial. It dials the last call, inbound or outbound. So an incoming wrong number or telemarketing call breaks your redial to call back your office or wife. Redial on the legend almost never gets me to who it is that I want to talk. Even worse, with the Legend if your headset disconnects for any reason, just walking to the next room, redial will complain that there's no number to dial. When I installed the Legend I had to approve it to access my call history on my phone but it doesn't do anything useful with it. Even though it has access, the legend won't figure out who the last call was once you've walked out of the room and back, disconnecting and reconnecting the headset. Also, my phone had voice dial that worked with the 520. With the Legend it interrupts the voice commands to try to handle it in the Legend rather than the phone making voice dial on the phone impossible. We ended up getting my wife a Plantronics M55 for about 1/4 the price of the legend and she likes it fine even though it is more cheaply made and, therefore less comfortable than the Voyager 520. I'm more practical and won't throw away the Legend; I'll use it while it lasts but I won't buy another nor will I recommend that anyone buy one. Update 8/26/2014. Ok, I'm going with the one star now. Because I use my mobile phone for work,, I need reliability and quality in a headset. The Legend has a sensor that detects when you put the headset on and take it off. Apparently it is not very reliable. As I wear the Legend in important phone calls, it would switch back and forth between headset and handset to the point that I had important customers complaining. The Legend is in the trash replaced with the 29 dollar M55. That's about 150 dollars in headset and charging accessories/cables down the drain. What a waste.

Works BETTER than expected.
I love the features of this device. It has voice commands that allow me to use my iPhone completely hands free. I can listen to incoming texts, send texts, make phone calls and even ask directions and get information from my phone without touching my phone. It has clear sound and, with the right earpiece, it comfortable on my ear. I wear eyeglasses all day long that have thick earpieces. Because of this the earpiece does not sit "under" my glasses, but "beside" the earpiece of my glasses. This makes the unit sit on my ear a little differently than I think it should. However, it will still stay on my ear all day as long as I don't bump it or move my hair around it too much. (I am a female with long, full hair.) The device can become dislodge off my ear and I have to put it back on. Although annoying at times, I believe it is caused more by my large ear piece on my glasses than the design of the headset. It connects to my phone instantly with no delays. I also like the verbal indication of my battery power level. It charges easily although the cord could be longer. I set my earpiece on a desk with the power plug also on the desk. The cable to charge is only 1 ft long so I don't know of any other way it could be charged. I use this to stream music from my phone. I noticed that you can't give voice commands while the music is playing. You must pause the music (or podcast) before using voice commands. I also plug my iPhone into the USB of my car while I am driving to charge the phone and listen to music at the same time. The earpiece will NOT work while the phone is connected to my car. I have to unplug the cable to my iPhone before I can use the voice commands or stream through the ear piece. If I receive a phone call while plugged into the car, I CAN answer the call through the earpiece. All in all, I love the versatility of the headset. I am COMPLETELY deaf in my right ear so I wear the headset on my left side. The best part is I can still hear in my left ear while wearing the headset. This is extremely important to me as I can still have conversations with people or hear other sounds while wearing the headset. The ear piece does NOT block the hearing in my ear. So it is NOT an ear "plug" that sits down inside the ear canal. I have worn this all day and don't notice it's presence when I'm not using it. This is the first Bluetooth earpiece I have ever owned. I used ear buds with a wire plugged into the phone before. Since I'm deaf in my right side I didn't need the right side of the earbuds plugged in but needed the microphone on the wire on the right side to have phone conversations. The ear buds blocked my hearing so I couldn't hear other people while they were in my ear. This headset has been wonderful at eliminating that problem and is MUCH more comfortable to wear. Makes me ask why I didn't get one of these a long time ago. I read other reviews that commented on the poor charging connection. Apparently, that has been fixed because my charging cable "snaps" in place and is held tightly to the device while charging. I have had no charging problems.

Vast Improvements over older models
These have drastically improved. Better linkage for charger, it stays connected, always a full charge after plugged in. It's a little heavier, therefore more durable. It doesn't disconnect constantly like the older versions, much more clearer.
