Entire unit sitting on a table is about 14" from the bottom of the cup holder (2" thick) to the top of the phone holder (2" thick). It does jiggle a little on rough roads but I'm happy with it. It could have been a little longer but it works for me. **Q: Is there a trick to lessen the phone wiggling, or is that to be expected to some degree?** A: The phone didn’t wiggle as I really tightened the cup holder portion; but, I quit using it as it is in an awkward position in my SUV. It sits too low and I have to look down to see it which can be dangerous. **Q: Will a note 5 fit in the holder ?** A: It should. It fits my samsung s7 edge and its 6x3 inches. **Q: Can I still plug in an aux cable into my iPhone 6s to play music?** A: Yes got plenty of room to plug in. The way the holder works it grabs the sides of the ohone and the bottom outside corners at bottom of phone so it cant fall out of holder either. But leaves the bottom speakers free and open and the auxiliary charging port open to be freely accessed Works great. Honest. I would buy another one if i had another vehicle as soon as possible I have tried many others. Such as suction cup kind? It isn't loose and holds the phone steady. The long arm and all parts are solid materials. It is the perfect fit for vehicles that have a lower cupholder. The telescoping arm is the perfect length and is adjustable. It may even be adjustable for top cupholders as well. Even my husband now wants one! I had to try a few models to find the right fit for my particular vehicle and this one is the best for my application. I deliberately wanted a longer gooseneck to be able to make siri-dialed phone calls, easy map/directions viewing and to use the ipod on the phone... although be aware that because of the height, some control dials on the vehicle (like volume and fan speed) are behind the holder now, so you have to reach around to use them- it is not a big issue for me.It has a perfect fit for my iPhone 6s- the positioning of clamps is below volume buttons on the phone, so perfect fit! I like the easy release button that releases the clamps holding the phone in. The bottom rest feet are adjustable as well (and fold when not in use). Great, strong fit inside my cup holder when tightened well (as you tighten it, it expands inside the cup holder to fit various openings). Due to the tall length of the gooseneck a slight movement of the neck when driving is logical and to be expected, but it does not affect the performance or stability of the holder- it stays firmly inside the cup holder & not an issue at all in my opinion.I also purchased a different phone holder for our other vehicle- Niss Titan truck- Mediabridge Smartphone Cradle holder- because of shorter arm and because it fits better into the truck's cup holder.Very happy with both purchases. Base fits fine in a Lexus sedan. Holder fits an iPhone 7 plus with a case with no problem. Not sure how sturdy over time it will be. There is some wobble holding a large phone, with normal driving, and I will give them the benefit of the doubt that this was designed purposefully to prevent strain on the plastic parts. The moving parts of the phone holder seem fragile also, so will see how long it lasts. No instructions are included, but it's pretty intuitive. The gooseneck is fairly stiff and should be adjusted before you place the base in the cupholder. It also tends to want to return to its original shape.
