She LOVES it and has been busy all summer. The book has a list of pens that are useful for the various projects, and gives them a whole series of easy to complete projects that inspire creativity. There are great pictures for each project, templates where necessary, and great instructions. The book also suggests practicing which is something that a parent cannot always do without inspiring the young person to specifically object to practicing. I would have really enjoyed this as a child and know my daughters would have when they were younger. It is a fantastic book for any girl old enough to start playing with lettering and making cards etc. My 20 year old was still interested in looking through it, so you really cannot miss with any young lady needing a gift. It would be a good one to keep in your gift stash if you have daughters who may go to impromptu birthday parties! I rated this "easy" for an 8 year old. I mean that it will be easy for an 8 year old to use and follow, not so easy that it will be boring. It is suitable for an 8 year old, a 12 year old would still love it. Great book for girls 7-8+

My new obsession
I bought “By Hand” a few months ago and I’ve loved it since day one so when this came out for kids I just had to have it. I ordered my first copy on October 5th and a young girl noticed it so I gave it to her after a quick convo about lettering. I finally purchased a second for myself to use with my students. Hoping to get some of them to make some projects to add to my classroom so they can feel like they helped in decorating. It’s an easy read and easy instruction/projects. You don’t need expensive tools to create beautiful projects and there’s not a lot of prep that goes into the projects. I’m obsessed with the authors books!!!!

Pure love! The best book for kids with interest in lettering and art in general!
I bought this book to keep my daughter busy during lockdown, and trust me, it’s was worth every penny! This is the best lettering book (20 lessons and projects) you can buy for your kids!! Nicole is awesome, look for her in YouTube Let’s Make Art, you will see how great is her work! Pure quality and my daughter loves her work!! She also has another one for older adults like me called By Hand, 100% recommended!!

Very useful and helpful

Lovely Gift!!
I have a very crafty niece who is in that strange stage of being a kid and a teenager so this gift was perfect for her. This walks through the basic skills and techniques for hand-lettering and different forms of script with the youth of a crayon or marker. I paired this with a few notepads and different markers and pens to get her started!

Great book with easy projects
My kids (6 & 8) love this book because they can do it with just markers (of which we have hundreds) and can do small or big projects any time. Great for rainy day or summer slumps! Nicole is a super talented artist and makes everything so approachable for even my littler kid (though she’s crafty, so maybe I’d err on the side of 7 as a young age).

Exceeded expectations
Book arrived in good time and condition. The book is much more substantial than expected (I think it would be about 50 or 60 pages) which was a nice surprise. Bought for an 8.5 year old girl for Christmas. It is not a calligraphy book but is full of clever projects to make which involve written aspects like a name or quote and includes instructions for different styles of writing to suit each project. I think she will get hours of pleasure and entertainment from it. I was impressed, a great buy, really happy with it.
