5 stars! Easy to learn and really teaches! This book is easy to follow, teaches real world applications, in this case games, give challenging assignments at the end of each chapter. Finishing the book sets one up to continue explore and develop. Highly recommended.

I loved working through get coding 1 with my 10 year old son and it was perfectly placed. Loved it so much, that I went to buy this 2nd book that actually teaches you to program REAL games. Pong, snake, tic tac toe and endless runners Great games, but not easy to understand. This introduces objects; math functions, etc... I worked through this myself and suggest it for high-schoolers (13/14+) as some of the concepts are quite hard and it would not really be understood by my 10 year old. On the other hand, the explanations of the logic and code are great. It's just that you would need some additional programming knowledge to get the most out of it. Really, I feel this would be more appropriate as a level 3 book rather than level 2 This can differ of course depending on the comfort level of your child.
