Where is this sourced and manufactured? does it contain salt or any version of sugar (such as maltodextrin), or is it just the hickory smoke powder?

the ingredients are listed and yes there maltodextrin, and there is sodium so if you are looking for product that has no salt or sugar counts you will probably need to actually smoke the item. As taking anything from Liquid to powder will require a carrier and 99 percent of the time is Maltodextrin.

Does this add the bbq flavor to anything baked in the oven? If i bake some chicken in the oven with this spice, will it have the same taste as grilled

This will add a smoke flavor not grilled but it does give the outdoor flavor but you need to use very little. This is a very strong smoke flavor, many of our chefs use it in bbq sauce as well as directly on meats.

Is there a guide or chart on how to substitute this in recipes for liquid smoke ?

Actually you have gauge by taste because not all liquid smokes are the same strength. We recommend one pinch per pound of product.

This One Order Will Last Your Entire Lifetime

The flavor is amazing. However, it is EXTREMELY strong. I put a 1/2 tbsp in a pot of chili (gallon and a half) and it ruined it. Remade it with 1/4 tsp and it was still very prominent. USE VERY SPARINGLY!

Smoke 'em if you've got 'em

If you want that wonderful taste and aroma of hickory, on your meat, (rubs), veggies, eggs, pizza, yes pizza this seasoning is a smoking short cut. Again spinkle sparinginly too much smoke can be overwhelming and may "stunt" ya' taste buds. Love this product and you wil too.

Smells and tastes like a car fire

Was hoping to add some smokey flavor to some roasted nuts. This stuff is bad. Like horribly bad. As soon as I opened the container it smelled like a car fire that had been put out. Like a smoldering burnt car. Against all hope I mixed some in with the roasted almonds. It was terrible. It tasted just like it smelled. Would not recommend for human consumption, but maybe for k9 training?
