You don't need to be a lawyer to find this handy!
Quoting "Farnsworth On Contracts" got me out of a ridiculous agency representation agreement passed down from the prior author on a book project. They were arguing that they deserved 15% on every new version of the book I wrote. As soon as I quoted Farnsworth, the discussion was over and I have since been receiving 100% of the royalties.

Great book - required for many Contracts classes
If this is required reading, then you'll have to buy the book and it doesn't matter what my opinion is. In this case, get it used and get it cheap - if that means Amazon like it did for me, then great. If you are a practitioner and need a brush up, then this is a good book and taught me well.

Solid modern contracts overview
This is a helpful hornbook, although I favor the more intricate (and therefore more accurate) single-volume treatise by Williston. Williston is harder to read but will help you deal with the terminology you'll find in most of the cases you will be studying in law school and reading law. Williston is the IBMPC to Farnsworth's Apple Mac; Moore's Manual versus Wright's Federal Practice; Shakespeare versus Grisham. His logic and terminology is timeless and precise. Farnsworth is easy to read, covers the bases, deals with more modern problems, and is very popular. Let me put it this way. If you want to read Hadley v. Baxendale to find out what it says, read Williston. If you want to find out what the bar review courses say about it, read Farnsworth. This really isn't meant as a knock on Farnsworth. Precision can be a pain. But Williston, like Louis Loss, was one of the greatest writers in the history of American jurisprudence, is still quoted by the Supremes, and he probably always will be. Farnsworth gives it to you in a slicker, smoother, slightly less analytical manner. Williston gives you the exact topography. Farnsworth shows you in pictures.

Came exactly as described. It appears i got lucky and the half-blood prince of law school owned the book before me. When i brief the cases usually my predecessor has every part already color coded; This is great for getting cold called in class! The package arrived on time and was in good condition.

good presentation
This book came in a timely manner, got it just like a day after it said it would be arriving. It contains some highlighted pages, but that was expected since I knew it was used. Everything else is fine with the book.

The book should be titled: "The Worst Way to Spend Money"
This is the WORST book on contract law you will ever read. The editorial board and the authors of this book are literally the who's who of US Contract Law. But, none of them has read this book. It is absolutely shocking!!! The book is full of typos and substantive errors. The selection of cases is astonishing. For example, take the one case the book has on misrepresentation. Poor selection, given it deals with a very obscure point. The case itself has been criticized as wrong. The holding in so many of the cases is not actually explained. You'll often find yourself reading 5 pages of fact and 1 paragraph explaining the court's reasoning. There are times when you can read the case multiple times and be completely lost and 30 seconds on Westlaw or even Wikipedia will explain everything. For example try pages 386-390. If you are contemplating buying this book, it is because you are a law student. Please go to your professor and tell him/her to prescribe a different book. I could not do this myself, because my professor is the leading (surviving) author of the book. This book is in its seventh edition and I'm told an eighth edition is on its way. I can't imagine what previous editions were like. The authors and the editorial board should really own up and take a fresh look at this book. P.S. Please note that most positive reviews of this book are actually positive reviews of the seller for shipping the book on time and etc.
