An excellent charger that works very well
This charger may be inexpensive but it's actually a really good deal for the price. It provides two charging outputs based on the number of inserted batteries. 1-4 batteries: 500mAh | 5-8: 250mAh If I'm in need of a quicker charge I'll just insert 1-4 and the charging times are half the time of 5-8 batteries. The charging time depends on the capacity of your NiMH batteries. I use 2800mAh AA and 1100mAh AAA EBL high capacity LSD (Low Self Discharge) batteries with this device. I find the output current acceptable and preferable. The higher the current you put into batteries when charging the more damage is done over time and they'll be much hotter during charging - contributing to even more damage. Lower currents, or trickle charging batteries, will allow them to reach their full rated cycle count. While it seems inconvenient to have to wait hours to charge, just remember that it's worth the wait in saved batteries. I'm not sure what the "damaged" battery fix feature does. We don't currently have any "damaged" batteries and the manual states this feature is only for batteries that were deeply discharged beyond the acceptable limits. I guess if this ever happens to us we'll see if that mode actually does anything. This charger heats up a good bit when charging batteries. Keep it on a solid surface to allow the heat to dissipate better. Don't place it on your carpet. Put it on a table or something with good airflow. What I do to compensate for the longer charging times is to have enough batteries on hand that I always have some ready and charged to swap into my devices while I charge the depleted ones. It's common and easy to find LSD (Low Self Discharge) NiMH batteries and I highly recommend people only purchase batteries with low self discharge. For the brand of batteries we use, EBL, we find that the claimed discharge over time is accurate. We use our batteries and swap them often enough that we don't know what that figure would be over very long time frames, but it will vary based on brand and quality. I highly recommend EBL batteries with this charger. They have some of the highest capacities available and a 1,200 cycle count which is above average for their capacity. Well worth the cost and they don't cost much more than cheapo ones. I expect them to last close to the claimed 1,200 cycles, partly thanks to the low charging currents offered by this charger. You can check and measure capacity and charge level with a multi-meter and some electronics knowledge (which I have). Overall this charger is great! Word of caution: don't keep the batteries inserted for long periods of time after they complete charging. A few hours or waiting overnight to take them out isn't a big deal breaker. But don't leave them in their for days or weeks on end. This charger is not designed to handle that and could lead to damage or reduced cycle count. This is also clearly laid out in the manual. My only complaint with this charger is that it heats up quite a bit when charging, especially if charging 8 AA at once. Other than that the smart chip feature appears to be real and works very well.

Experience Unmatched Charging Efficiency with the POWEROWL 8 Bay AA AAA Battery Charger
As a professional reviewer, I've had the opportunity to test the POWEROWL 8 Bay AA AAA Battery Charger extensively. My experience with this product has been a mixed bag, with some notable highs and lows. Here's my take on it: Pros: + Versatility: This charger is designed to accommodate both AA and AAA batteries, which adds to its convenience and utility. + Proactive Support: The customer service team is commendable. They reached out proactively to ensure I was using the correct battery types, demonstrating a commitment to customer satisfaction. + Independent Charging Slots: The ability to charge one or an odd number of batteries at a time is a significant advantage over other models. + Fault Detection: The charger can detect if a rechargeable battery is no longer chargeable, which is a handy feature for maintaining battery health. + Affordability: Considering its features, the charger is reasonably priced. Cons: - Quality Concerns: The charger feels cheaply made, and there have been instances of it failing after a few uses. This raises questions about its durability and reliability. - Incompatibility Issues: Some users have reported that the charger is not compatible with certain brands of batteries, such as Amazon's AA/AAA batteries. - Inconsistent Performance: The charger sometimes falsely identifies good batteries as defective, and its performance seems to vary across different battery brands and types. - Noise: The charger makes a clicking noise while charging, which can be annoying for some users. - Power Supply: The charger uses a USB cable for power, which means you'll need a phone charger or similar device to use it. In conclusion, the POWEROWL 8 Bay AA AAA Battery Charger has some appealing features, such as its versatility and proactive customer support. However, the quality concerns and inconsistent performance are significant drawbacks. If you're considering this charger, weigh these pros and cons carefully.

good but does not come with cable or charger to plug in power.
It allows to recharge AAA, AA rechargeable batteries. It will indicate with a led when a battery is empty, full or when it is not longer chargeable. Pro: you charge up to 8 batteries at the same time (any combination of AAA and AA). Con: it has a female micro USB but not cable and no charger to plug on a wall. You need a 5v 2a charger to connect to it..

Update #2 - Turned out to be an issue with the batteries purchased, not the unit so changed the review to a #5. Our apologies.

I like that there are lights which help indicate any issues with charging/the battery. Green means charged, red means charging, and flashing red means there's a problem with the battery. It is very intuitive and user friendly. As stated, it comes with the charging cable but no adapter. This likely won't be an issue because you can plug it into a standard phone charger base and most people have several of these on hand. One thing I will say is that it seems to take a while to charge. I am new to reusable batteries so I am not sure if it's standard, but a dead battery takes several hours to charge. But again, they really come through with the features. You don't need to worry about over-charging because it automatically stops charging the battery once it is back at full capacity. So you can comfortably leave it charging overnight or while you're out and not have to worry about batteries leaking or exploding. This was a huge selling point for me. I bought this to with the Amazon Basics rechargeable batteries. I bought AAA and AA, both of which fit into the charger thanks to a clever design. Honestly don't have much negative to say! The only improvement I could see is that I wish the unit itself was heavier - it's really light, which is great if you plan on travelling, but I can see it being easily knocked off a table. I may add some grip tape to the bottom to stabilize it.
