Aaron Kwok is known from After This Our Exile (2006), The Storm Riders (1998), and City Under Siege (2010). The Monkey King 3 (2018) Tang Sanzang, a Buddhist monk and his three disciples find themselves in a land completely occupied, and ruled, by women. Unfortunately for the trespassers, these women were raised believing that men are evil and will use romance to trick women into servitude. Nonetheless, Tang and the young queen of this matriarchal nation, start to fall for each other even though her royal preceptor demands their deaths for their transgressions, and their gender. As Tang searches for a way to escape, he discovers that romantic love is the only key to opening the gate. Tang is faced with a choice of staying with the queen to release his company or continuing on his sacred mission. Frankly, I've become a huge fan of the mythic character of the Monkey King and am practically devouring every film I can get my hands on that has a take on the character. Give this one a shot, and be sure if you don't speak Mandarin or Cantonese, that you watch with subtitles, not dubbed translations. The subtitles allow you to hear the rhythm of the language and the emotions conveyed by the actors' voices which are what helps convey the story.

A Great Character and a Great Story
I don't have an extensive background in Chinese culture. That said, the storytelling in this film is excellent. It may seem a bit "crowded" with some of the side stories. Monkey Kings 3 completes the tale of the Monkey King and his friends. We loved all 3 segments.
Now we have all three of the Monkey King story and we have enjoyed ourselves watching them. English subtitles are easy to get used to and the story line keeps you interested until the very last scene.

Caught off guard
I really liked the first two movies in this Monkey King series. This one caught me off guard. It's pretty romantic which kind of throws a size-changing, galaxy-leveling staff into the the gear-working set-up by the first two movies. It wasn't that I disliked taking this part of the journey with the team, but it definitely wasn't what I was expecting and hope to find the 4th movie of the series more like the first two. I guess the best way to put it is that this is more of Monkey King date-movie in the same way that (the much criticized but very fun) Alakazam the Great is a date-movie.

is a genre of movie I enjoy..I also have 1&2 and enjoy all of them. The subtitles are ok ... very hard to find a foreign movie with subtitles that fully convey whats being said. There are also other versions of the monkey king...I have 4 different movie sets and I love them all. Thanx

Another fantastic movie
Another fantastic piece of the Monkey King Story bought to the big screen. This movie kept me laughing and sitting on the edge of my seat at times. This movie is a must have!

Looks great...
Loved the first two movies, so I just had to order this one too. Haven't watch movie yet, just tested the discs... and, it seems that both discs are R E G I O N F R E E even it says on backcover that discs are coded to regions A and 1. Used my region B-player and R2-dvd player to test this movie. Realy hope that all the DVD and Bluray movies would be like these, region free, so everyone all over the world could buy/watch all the movies they want !
