Can these be hung in a hallway for lighting?

Here's some facts for you to decide: It has to be plugged in to an outlet. You would need a tall ceiling (like 10') or else it would hang too low. The bulb type is a small chandelier style and can't exceed 40 watts - that means it won't put out a whole lot of light. It is made of a milky colored plastic.

Can you string multiple stars together?

The plug is one that only plugs INTO an outlet. Nothing can be plugged into it. You would need an extension cord or adapter to join them. The plug is not like string-along Christmas tree lights that can plug into each other. I hope that helps.

I’m about to purchase the battery operated star with the timer. Is it as bright as the plug-in option?

I haven't purchased the plug-in star, but my battery-powered star is quite bright and quite white. More so than either of my neighbors' stars which are plug-in and different brands.
