Just using earplugs I tend to wake at the slightest noise or voices outside . The Generation 6 Hibermate is amazing and surprisingly comfortable to wear, I manage to sleep very well with these on. Of course they do feel unusual to wear but you do get used to them and it’s worth it for a good sleep. sound is definitely dampened.I’d definitely recommend these if you are a night shift worker and struggle to sleep during the day. ### ⭐ Does not work as advertised *by A***S on 23 January 2019* This product barely blocks any sound. The foam inside is so light it's like a washing up sponge. I can't believe how poor it worked, when I used them for the first time at night, all I could think of is how this got through the QA procedure back at HQ! It should be advertised as an eye mask only, as the sound is not cancelled out at all, I do feel I've been mis-sold this product. I will attempt to make it better myself by adding actual acoustic foam inside the ear cups. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ An honest review *by S***X on 10 May 2019* Hi, so you've seen the bad star ratings and all of the dodgy 'this does nothing comments', well it's time you got a proper review.I have been using the Hibermate for what I believe is just over 3 years now, and I recently purchased the 'new 2018 model'.So the issue people are having isn't with the product, it is with their expectations of it. This is not for sound blocking, it is for sound deadening. It will not block any Bass noise due to the way the sound waves work, however it will stop noise from fridges, birds, odd little random noises that happen throughout the night such as your heating turning on, and can even help deaden snoring. Coupled with 'white noise' is my approach to using this product.Previous to this product I used ear buds to completely block all sounds which of course worked a treat, the issue with ear buds is that when you sleep and throughout the day pressure gets released through various parts of your body including your ears. This ultimately resulted in some major migraines and very odd pressurised feelings in my head throughout the day that never let up.I also don't find the mask uncomfortable at all, I imagine those saying about pressure on the eyes have the product way too tight on their head.I've added images of just how much I wore out my old one compared to the new.
