Glisten Washer Magic Washing Machine Cleaner and Deodorizer, 3 Bottles, Multicolor

Every once in awhile, my washing machine stinks...BIG TIME. A very foul, rotten egg-ish scent. As soon as I get a whiff of the dreaded odor, I immediately pour white vinegar in the machine, turn the water setting to HOT and run a wash cycle (no clothing in the machine) to clean it. Recently, I had to do this twice in one week and doing so still didn't get rid of the odor. This is NOT normal; usually a vinegar wash does the trick. Not this time. I did try the washing machine cleaning tablets a few years ago and wasn't super impressed with the results. I got better results with my vinegar wash. Since it didn't work this time, I did a search for a new cleaner for the washer. I decided to go with a liquid this time rather than a tablet and settled on Glisten washer cleaner thanks to the low price and the high rating from other users. 2 bottles come in a pack, each 12oz. (they arrived a day early!) Per the instructions, I used 1/2 cup of the cleaner along with the HOT water setting on the machine and ran the washer through a regular wash cycle. (no clothing in the machine) After one normal wash cycle, the scent was GONE entirely and has not returned! I am SO relieved! I keep my washing machine pretty clean though it had light soap scum build up inside so I used a bit of Glisten on a cloth, wiped over the scum and off it came, just like that. I was so impressed, I mentioned Glisten to my sister. She does NOT keep her washing machine clean. I wound up taking a bottle to her house and letting her use it to clean her washing machine. The results speak for themselves. Glisten did an impressive job cleaning her machine. (she didn't run a cycle using Glisten, she poured Glisten on a rag and cleaned out the interior of her machine) I'll be using Glisten monthly as directed to keep the funky, foul odor away. This product works well on initial application, and we've decided to use it on a regular basis to prevent buildup in the future. According to official safety documents, the main ingredient in the stuff is citric acid. I found out because it's important to avoid bleach (sodium hypochlorite) because it's not good for rubber gaskets and seals. This product has no bleach. Just saw a television feature on how mold and mildew problems are chronic with front-load washers, and our Bosch is no exception. I already have replaced the rubber gasket between the tub and the door after black mildew covered the visible surface and the backside as well. Vowed to take steps to avoid prolonged moisture on the new gasket but started to see another build-up even after leaving the door open, drying the drain hole area, and other measures when not in use. Before we even saw the TV story, I had researched and found this product among many. I considered customer reviews more than the seller's descriptions to decide which one. This 2-pack for $12 is a better deal than the $9 single 24-ounce jug also offered on Amazon. (12 treatments/$1 each, versus 6 treatments/$1.50 each) The small containers are also easier to store on the shelves in the laundry room. The product does not leave a significant smell in the washer. Wondering out loud -- for all the energy and water conservation the front loaders supposedly offer, are those savings cancelled out by having to buy products like this to fix a design problem that aggravates mildew? Manufacturers take note.

One time use and even the lint in my dryer has improved. My washer smells, looks, and feels better. It takes less time to wipe down, no scrubbing. This will be a monthly maintenance for my washer. I highly recommend this Glisten Washing Machine Cleaner.

I got this for my parents washer it is an older front end loader that they have had since 1992. My parents are in their early 90's and I have talked to my dad about getting something to help with the smell and the mold around the seal. I have known about this product before, because when I had a front end loader washer I would use it. Let's just say this product made that old washer shine on the inside. Got the mold off with a little rubbing and it drains so much better. Plus the smell is gone. My parents could not believe how much better it looks on the inside. My parents are happy with the outcome of their washer getting clean and my dad is happy about the price in which he paid for it. One bottle can run for three months, which I think is not bad. I would recommend this product. Thank you, Amazon for having this product.

This product is not magic in the sense of fixing a washing machine that has suffered from hard water build up and door-seal mildew for an extended period of time. In my case, we bought a home that came with a washer and dryer but had no water softener (we installed a softener first thing). The washer had a very significant build-up of hard water deposits and a very musty odor because of door seal water trapping. No single product had much effect on reducing these. What it took was lots of manual scraping in each of the hundreds of holes in the washer basket (front-loading, high-efficiency LG washer), manual cleaning of the input and internal washing machine filters, a dozen or so loads run in the washer with just white vinegar, more loads with a heavy dose of bleach and repeated wipe-downs of the interior and door seal with bleach. Bottom line: there is no magic for a neglected washing machine. With all that said, I have also used this product on a monthly basis over the past couple months. The washer now works fine, cleans well and is free of odors and build-up. If got that way by virtue of the many combined efforts described above. This product may be sufficient to keep it that way, but it isn't a silver bullet.

Washer smelled much better after just one application. A few weeks later I gave it a second shot. My clothes went from having a funky musty moldy odor to perfect. I'll use the last bit of it one of these days just for the Hell of it. Just pour it in, turn the water to hot, and let it go!

I regularly use a washer cleaner from a different brand. I was skeptical that this could do better than that, but had iron build up so I was willing to try. This cleaned everything so well with just one use. I will be using this from now on.

Do you have brown spots on your wash? Tried the laundry pods etc? I have and still had issues, and took off the impeller to clean. My first run with about 1/2 bottle was eye opening. A massive amount of residue was present. Cleaned that with a cloth. And did another few “tub wash” and it was clear. Will use more periodically from now on. Highly recommended and way better than a homebrew option.

Gestern den Waschmaschinenreiniger in unserer Maschine ausprobiert. Sie ist jetzt 6 Jahre alt, mir fiel ein muffiger Geruch auf, also musste ein Reiniger angewendet werden. Den gesamten Inhalt, wie empfohlen in die Trommel geschüttet, auf Baumwolle 90 Grad Wäsche eingestellt und abgewartet. Nach etwas mehr als der Hälfte der Waschzeit kam der mächtige Schaum, der sich während der Zeit entwickelt hat kurz sogar aus der Waschmittelschublade. Durch das Bullauge konnte ich sehen, wieviel Schmutz sich während dieser Zeit gelöst hat, ich war erstaunt über die Menge. Nach den Spülgängen war nichts mehr zu sehen, die Maschine ist sehr sauber und riecht frisch.
