this EU Edition its the best!
This Boxset its that really worth each British pounds it cost! well, i don't mean its the better boxset the Rollings Stones are released but for completist its pretty good! I got a similar boxset at the half of price in ebay, all nice this the boxset arrives... first i must to pay taxes because the parcel were from China... then when i open it all the cases were broken... then the quality of the artworks was simply HORRIBLE!!! simply photocopy of the original artwork...the worst experience i ever had with any Rolling Stones item... beware: not buy this boxes from China sellers, PLEASE: buy this boxset in Amazon, all arrives safe, very good price and the quality of EU boxset has no competition!!! Thanks again amazon!!!

The good, the bad & the ugly
Wow!- the 'first' to review this new set (?). Well- not exactly: There are numerous reviews of the Stones post-1971 albums elsewhere on Amazon & numerous other sites of course, so another opinion on the merits (or lack of) of the Stones studio albums is really surplus to requirements. So, let's just examine this 'product': The whole point of any remasters was always SUPPOSED to be the improved sound-quality, over previous releases & once again, that's a very contentious issue- with many people on Amazon having written at length about the tendency nowadays to remaster older recordings with a 'louder is better' attitude, leaving the recordings quite compressed & lacking in dynamics. I'm not an 'audiophile' though & if you don't have the time, inclination, or money to compare 'like for like' the majority of these newly remastered albums sound just fine imo. In fact, I'd go as far as saying that this is probably the first time 'It's Only Rock & Roll' & 'Black & Blue' have EVER sounded good on cd. BUT- don't get all dewy-eyed at the thought of a 'box set' in the same league as eg: Dylan,The Who, Neil Young & numerous others. You'll find no luxury packaging, booklets, liner-notes etc here, just a flimsy cardboard carton with the cds inside. In-fact- I can see this carton lasting all of 5 minutes, as you have to lift it up & slide all the contents forward, if you want to retrieve a disc. Every time you do this, the slip-case (which is NOT 'a box') seems to be breathing it's last. So, I certainly wouldn't recommend it as some kind of 'collectors' item. However, on the plus-side: For anyone who wants the entire collection of these albums/remasters, this set does offer a pretty good deal- ie: it's cheaper than buying the individual albums one by one. But- having said that, I really don't think any newcomers to the Stones catalogue would want ALL of these albums. I think they'd be better served cherry-picking a few of the great ones (& there ARE some, even post-'75 imo). So, 'in a nutshell' I think this set falls between 2 stools: It's not very satisfying for long-term fans (going back to the arguments over the sound) & I can't see it appealing to any Stones novices either. Since the Stones signed the new deal with Universal Music, these titles do seem to have appeared with indecent haste- which does give the impression that these 'remasters' were rushed-out, in order to keep the Stones catalogue on the shelves. Wow!- this all sounds pretty negative doesn't it?- especially as the American version of this set is readily available at approximately HALF the price on Ebay (minus 'Exile'). But, having had the dubious honour of looking at the US & European editions side-by-side- at least the print quality of the inlays is vastly superior on this edition.

te te te...
Why o why did anyone think this volume of garbage was a good idea to compile and sell on! Be warned - non of these songs are actual 'formal releases'. They are all informal, live recordings for the radio and stage with poor sound quality, some even awful. One of the CDs isn't even the Stones - it's some sort of tribute band and the noise is an insult to the band! I was after some of their very early hits like 'Around and Around' and 'Rout 66' which are now incredibly hard to find on CD and non of these repetitive editions on any of the 6 CDs were good quality, formal releases - so you have 2 CDs worth of songs repeated across 5 CDs, plus one CD a live tribute. The best sounding CD is disk one (sound quality) and there are very few gems here and there, like 'down the road a piece' and 'around and around' which you won't find on CD so easily...

Much better than The Beatles Remasters
Many people complain cause you get a cheap box and a poster but nothing more. In my opinion, the box is fine, the printings in it are very cool and can fit perfectly in a CD display shelve (unlike the Beatles Stereo Box). Also you're paying the same as if you were buying the discs separately and you get some extras, you pay around 10 dlls for disc, once again much less than what you pay for the Beatles Set. The discs are also very good ones, the post 68 era of the Stones is very good, from Sticky Fingers to Some Girls, to the modern Voodoo Lounge, Bridges to Babylon and A Bigger Bang which all are great rock albums to enjoy.

The Rolling Stones - Remastered Boxset
Die musikalische Qualität der Songs auf den Alben reicht von "Spitzenklasse" (Sticky Fingers, Exile On Mainstreet, It's Only Rock And Roll, Some Girls, Tattoo You, A Bigger Bang) bis "Geht so" (Goat's Head Soup, Black And Blue, Dirty Work) .

The Rolling Stones Box.
Keith, würde sagen, this is amazing... Gruß an Alle. Euer Hardy.
