Key ingredients in Hardwax Oil include sunflower, soybean and thistle oil, plus two hard, natural waxes—carnauba and candelilla. A Brazilian palm tree, Copernica cerifera, produces the carnauba in its leaves, berries and stalks. Villagers cut down fronds, dry them for several days, and then beat off the wax. The candelilla comes from the outer coating on a desert shrub, Euphorbia antisyphiliti, that grows in northern Mexico. All of Osmos interior finishes are food safe after the full 2 week cure time. **Q: What square footage does this cover?** A: 250 square feet per liter, per coat. Generally, two or more coats are required, depending on age and species of wood. **Q: so many different numbers without guidance that it's confusing, how can you tell which clear polyx version is best for, say, hickory or maple?** A: There are three main versions of Polyx. 3031 Matte, 3043 Satin and 3054 Satin. 3054 was developed to be a little thicker to meet California regulations while 3043 and 3031 are a little thinner and are more brushable and rollable. It you have any questions about the differences, let us know! **Q: Can I use this as wood furniture maintenance? Does it darken light-colored wood?** A: You can maintain wood furniture that is finished with natural oils, wax or soap with Polyx-Oil. If the wood is already finished, this finish will not darken the wood. If you are applying to raw wood, it will darken the wood a bit.
