**Q: will this run directly connected to coin cell battery? or does this need a controller, etc?**
A: These motors have a plastic connector at the end of each wire, but you can remove them to connect wires to your setup with coin batteries. Given enough voltage the motor will run continuously, no need to add controller to turn off/on.

A: It's called a Dupont connector.

A: I wonder too.  I actually cut the adapters off the wired it to battery.
