Review: A surprisingly durable and easy quality finish - Osmo has quickly become my favorite finish. It seems very expensive at first, especially for the size of the can, BUT a little goes a very very long way, a crazy long way. It took a few builds before I got used to just how little is needed. So it really is not all that expensive at all when you consider how far a can will go. I have found the finish to be very durable, and exceedingly easy and quick to repair. I had a customer who put a gouge into the top of their coffee table with a remote control helicopter, and I was able to repair the damage on site in a little more than an hour, and after a couple days you could not tell where the repair was done... if I would have used arm r seal I would have needed to sand/strip the whole top and it would have been at least a couple days work. The client was amazed with the turnaround and overjoyed with the result. I can not say enough good things about osmo polyx. My favorite variety of polyx is the gloss- which can get anywhere from a light satin sheen to a glossy polish, its very versatile, and the satin is a close second- it can be buffed to a nice shine if desired, so also very versatile. The only drawback of osmo polyx compared to varnish/poly is osmo is a bit more physically demanding, you are polishing the finish into the wood, and the more you polish and rub the better it turns out. Its not really a big deal in my opinion, but it might be a factor to some people I guess. PS. Just a tip: Use a white scotchbrite pad for application and buffing, and a grey scotchbrite if you want to sand between coats- though sanding between coats isnt necessary, you will get a slightly nicer end result on most species of wood.
Review: My Go-To! - As a professional furniture maker and restorer, I love this stuff; this tone specifically works great on walnut. It's easy to apply, non-toxic, and durable. Pair this with a nice beeswax polish, and you'll have a perfect finish. no harh long lasting orders, it is a little pricy but a little goes a very long way!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I have sealed some the back of some cabinet doors with one coat of top oil. I have decided I would rather have satin can I put it over the top oil?**
A: Yes. FYI, TopOil Is a food safe rated hardwax oil and is designed for surfaces where food would be prepared. Polyx-Oil provides the same protection as TopOil at a lower cost.

**Q: I just did 2 coats on my unfinished tabletop and bookshelves, is it pointless for applying a 3rd coat? or 2 coats are already enough. Thank you.**
A: You need 4-5 coats of finish. Check utube for how to use. There is an excellent video on how to apply

**Q: Can you put this on top of boiled linseed oil?**
A: Yes. It is recommended that Osmo Intensive Cleaner 8019 is used prior to re-oiling. This will deep clean and prep the wood for Osmo finishes to penetrate.

**Q: Will this stand up to warm / hot dinner plates?**
A: I am not sure, however this is a finish that will be used by the craftsman who is making mantles that we are installing over our gas logs. This is the finish he recommended.

we are finishing a beautiful slab of walnut for use as a bar top. Slab has live edges on both sides and is very nice. I wanted a finish that would be durable but not encase this beautiful slab of wood in a thick layer of plastic looking epoxy or even poly. After considering Tung Oil and Danish Oil, I came across Osmo. It was a recommendation from someone who had heard about it but never used it, so I took that recommendation with a grain of salt. But after doing my homework, I was interested in giving it a try. I am almost done applying - final coat going on tonight. But I wanted to share my thoughts in case someone else out there is on the fence. Obviously, it will take some time to decide on the durability of this finish, but for both ease of application, and look / feel - this stuff is awesome. Super low odor and thick enough that it doesn't run all over the place and drip. There are a number of videos on youtube where people (my favorite was from Isak Ziegner) are using different techniques to apply. I used my stir-stick to dribble a stream of product onto my wood, and then used a plastic putty knife to work the product all around. Once the entire slab was covered with product, then used a non-scour white pad to work it into the wood, and then used rags to buff it off. Just that simple. We filled some cracks with a tinted epoxy, and this finish brought that sanded epoxy to life ! almost to a neon extent. We used one coat of the Osmo extra thin 1101 as a base coat on the top and sides of the slab, but not the bottom (didn't have enough product). Then a single coat of this PolyX on the bottom, and 2 coats of Poly-X on the top. Can't wait to see how it holds up over time. It feels very natural to the touch, and makes the grain really pop. And this stuff really does cover like it says on the label - one can goes a very very long way. Based on my experience so far, I don't see myself using any other finish for interior woodworking projects. It was designed for hardwood floors, and if I ever refinish my floors might even use it for that. And they make a UV protective product that seems good for outdoor use. So many more projects I need to tackle now that I have found Osmo....
