"Take concern to have your heart be more pleasing to our Master day by day." —Padre Pio in a letter to Antonietta Vona, January 2, 1918 Padre Pio is many different things to different people. This Italian saint, also known as Saint Pius of Pietrelcina, was an Italian Franciscan Capuchin, Catholic priest, friar, teacher, mystic, and maybe most famously, a stigmatist. In August of 1918, he began to bear the wounds of Christ that would come and go over a period of weeks and to this day cannot be explained. The wounds would soon become permanent and remain on his body for the next 50 years. Suffering these wounds which lead him to devote his life’s work to continuing Jesus’ work of redemption and wholeheartedly embraced his role as a spiritual leader to many. Padre Pio is celebrated for his understanding of the spiritual life and the struggles we all face. The letters he wrote to his spiritual directors and to the many people who sought his advice are an immense source of direction and encouragement. The collection in this book of 365 daily reflections drawn from those letters offers inspiration for every day of the year. Let Saint Pius of Pietrelcina share his wisdom with you and become your guide to holiness. “Pray, hope, and don’t worry. Worry is useless. God is merciful and will hear your prayer.” —Padre Pio Review: My Personal Go To for Spiritual Direction - This is a treasure trove of wisdom. I return to these pages over and over. It is especially good as a companion in adoration. I have gained so many insights and found great encouragement in the pages of this book. I wish it were in journal form. I have found the entries have prompted much of my private journaling. Review: Encouraging - We take note of the lives of exceptional saints. St Pio of Pietrelcina - or as we would prefer to say, St Padre Pio - was exceptional. This collection of his letters to priests and nuns and lay people make us think more deeply about following Jesus Christ. In his life time he amazed thousands and, as he once said, he can, and wants to, still help people from Heaven. His letter to Fr Agostino numbered as February 2nd is beautiful yet heartbreaking.

spiritual feast of biblical proportions
This book has extracts of letters of Padre Pio which act as a thought for the day - it is rich food for the spirit, as he lived out the truths which he refers to. There is an extraordinary transparency as he is writing to his mentor and also when he is writing AS a mentor, showing heart moving struggles to arrive at victory through Christ in our spirits and lives. The bible says we are more than conquerors, this book depicts how - from our inner man remaining unperturbed by suffering, pain and cirucumstance, to quieetly have faith, hope and love, the cardinal christian virtues which really do what it says on the tin! He is reawarded with spiritual heights not only in power but also in peace of the soul and love for others, fulfiling the second commandment to love thy neigbor as yourself. Buy it! Dine on rich feasts!

Awesome book, the best of Padre Pio
I’ve read a lot of books about Padre Pio, but this one is by far the BEST! It isn’t about supernatural gifts or strange happenings, it isn’t about his stigmata. It’s his SPIRITUAL insight through a series of letters he wrote, and after all, isn’t that what the signs and wonders all point to? For anyone wanting to change their life, get closer to God, this is the book to buy!
