No...I would not use it to actually crack nuts. It is more of a decorative piece. I love my little guy. He's an adorable addition to my Nutcracker collection.

I really do not know but it is my belief that it is. I think all the Kurt Adler Nutcrackers are made in Germany. It is a beautiful nutcracker.

Nutcrackers nowadays are used for decor. I would not recommend you cracke nuts in this good-looking guy.
