Then I found this, and its allowed me to carry it for crafting on the go with it's retractible blade. It's solidly built and doesn't wobble whilst applying pressure to cut through thick card. Review: Excellent quality scalpel handles - Have used these for many years. They are excellent for safely using scalpel blades for general projects as the blades fit inside the handle avoiding the risk of cutting yourself when grabbing hold of the handle, or if the thing falls to the floor - no risk of spearing your foot!!! Sadly Swann Morton seem to have discontinued these handles in favour of an inferior plastic thing - I was really pleased to find the metal version still for sale on desertcart. They are built really well and stand up to use - mine are well over 10 years old.
