I was using with a 11000 RPM DeWalt grinder and it left blue melt marks all over. I was not heavy handed using a lot of pressure.Also says 7/8" in thickness, but is 5/8". If you're heavy handed, it will mark the metal.They even work surprisingly well on powder coat. But, again, you need a light touch to not overheat the coating, which will smear smear it instead of removing it.If you want to remove rust, this disk will remove light surface rust nicely, but beyond that, it's not a good choice. When the disc heats up from friction, the plastic non-woven material melts, leaving streaks on the work.Honestly, even though this isn't an advertised feature of the disc, I was hoping to use them to blend welds.
