They don't develop smells and are dishwasher safe. I use them to store just about anything. Overall, pretty great product to have around if you're looking to reduce plastic baggie waste. (Wish they also came in bigger sizes! I would totally buy that)Cons: *The first time I got the order in the mail, I was surprised that the bags were stuck really, really tight. I had to peel them open before using. I used water and soap to help with the process. Unfortunately, one of them was so tightly stuck together that it ripped as I was peeling it open. I returned this and got another order. The second shipment had the same situation going on, and so I tried again with water and soap. Fortunately, I was able to actually peel the bags open and use them this time.
