Fab, our daughter was using this as her first book when she started learning to play the cello. It meant she could practise what she had been learning with her teacher in class.

Seems to fulfil the requirements

Cello teacher asked us to order this book. The description said with CD but the book doesn’t have one - backing tracks are available online. That’s all very well but difficult to find and not everywhere has readily available internet. Would much prefer a CD to keep with the book.

Great book for beginners. Lots of fun easy pieces, the very first of which use letter names instead of notation so you can get students playing straight away. Mostly tunes they'll already know, and the accompanying CD is pretty fun too. I'm a huge fan of the joggers / runners / sprinters series, but for absolute beginners I'd say this book is a way into the trickier pieces those books offer. I also like that it's A5 size, easy to fit in a small pocket in a case.

Absolutely amazingly brilliant. The backing tracks out of this world! A child friendly book with lots of cool pieces which can be played individually as solos or collectively as a group with other stringed instruments such as Violin Viola and Double Bass. (There are books for these instruments playing the same pieces.) A tremendous class teaching tool. You would be foolish not to invest in this book. I can't think of a more inspiring set of pieces for the beginner cellist.
