Does the timer work well?

It works pretty good. It's not spot on accurate but works well with the classroom set.

I gave this to my 3-year-old great niece for Christmas who was very into playing school & she loved it! Everything worked as expected & her parents reported that the bell wasn’t too loud & annoying.

what is the best age range?

Hi, I think 4-7 is the age range that would enjoy it the most.

Is this folding and with ribbon to tie?

Hi! The two sides fold up and are held to the package with Velcro...educational AND neat!
