What does this mean: "For each gallon of clean water, only 2 gallons of water are wasted"? Where does the wasted water go? How is this economical?

Where do I get replacement filters and which ones do you need to change and when?

Many online sources that sell RO systems. A search for the RO system itself will typically get you a list of a bunch of places that can also sell the filters. You can buy them thru Amazon in multiple versions. Individually, 1 year pack, 2 year pack, 3 year pack. In a year some of the filters are recommended to be replaced twice, some once, etc. And the "pack" comes with the right number of filters for that period of time. Stage 1 (FP15) is a 10" sediment filter replacement recommended 3-6 months though in our house we have a pre-filter for the whole house so we don't replace this one as often. Stage 2 (FG15) activated carbon filter replacement recommended every 3-6 months. Stage 3 (FC15) CTO carbon block filter replacement recommended every 3-6 months. These three are in the 10" vertical tubes and are relatively easy to change. Stage 4 (MC1) is the RO membrane itself. Recommendations on replacing this are every two years but vary. We have a pre & post particulate monitor to help us tell when it's losing its effectiveness as this is the most expensive component to replace. Multi-year filter packs will include an RO membrane but a single year pack typically will not. Bear that in mind when looking at cost of 2 year vs. 1 year packs. Stage 5 (FT15) another carbon filter but post RO. Recommended replacement annual. Stage 6 the Alkaline filter that actually puts minerals back into the water. This is recommended to be replaced every 3-6 months. In my experience you will begin to taste when this one needs replacement. This stage is the reason I bought this particular RO system and I like the taste it gives to the water. IMHO it will diminish over time and give you some indication when it needs to be changed. what is the sie of the hole required (in the granite slab) for the faucet?

I think there is some confusion with the answers here. I think people who are stating holes over one inch are referrring to standard size holes that are factory or site drilled., and are already there. The faucet has a larger than 1/2" excusion that should cover a larger hole. By all means if you need to drill your own hole, only make it 1/2", because that is all that is required.
