Working unbelievably well so far, but folks are NOT kidding about the noise!
UPDATE #2 (7/31/2020): Glad to see my review is continuing to help others. I've still got my original roll of tape that I purchased almost 3 years ago. The strips are definitely durable and can last for several months hanging outside, but understand that they will inevitably tear off at the ends from prolonged exposure to the elements (i.e., strong wind, rain, snow, and sun). When that happens and the woodpeckers start coming back, getting rid of them is just a matter of going outside and attaching fresh tape to the broken ends. Our woodpecker problem has been practically nonexistent for the past 3 years--I still see them flying around outside, but they leave our siding alone unless the strips of tape become very short/damaged--and to this day I am still amazed that this simple solution was the one that actually worked (and continues to work) for us. --------------------------------------------- UPDATE (6/10/18): It's been about 7 months since we initially put up the tape. There were NO woodpeckers throughout that entire time, even as the weather got warmer. The tape has gotten shorter and shorter with age, though (most likely from the wind and the elements slowly tearing the ends off). The ribbons eventually became very short (about 5-6 inches long), and were not able to properly wave in the wind or reflect light. As a result, a small baby woodpecker started coming around and pecking once or twice in the usual spots near the shortened ribbons. It wouldn't usually stay long, but it was definitely pecking more than before when the ribbons were longer. We immediately went outside and duct taped some fresh, long strips of this reflective tape to the ends of the shortened pieces that were already hanging there (rather than completely redoing the entire setup). It's been about 2 weeks since we fixed the ribbons, and NO woodpeckers have been back since. THIS TAPE SERIOUSLY WORKS, GUYS. BUY IT AND SAVE YOUR SANITY!!! --------------------------------------------- TL;DR: Not a SINGLE woodpecker for 2 months since putting up this tape, but it is super noisy when the wind hits it. I'll take the occasional noise over woodpeckers any day, though!! My family and I have been having an ongoing battle against woodpeckers for years now, and anyone who's had issues with these birds knows how relentless and annoying they are. After constantly (and unsuccessfully) trying to scare them away only to have them return shortly after, we were finally fed up. I came across this product while doing some careful research, and to be completely honest we weren't expecting much despite the glowing reviews. But, we figured it was cheap so it wouldn't be a huge loss if it failed. We purchased this product in late November and installed it a few days after Thanksgiving, and I am dead serious when I say we have not heard or seen a SINGLE woodpecker on the side of our house since that day. It's incredible that this actually worked. Now it's possible that the woodpeckers have gone somewhere else for the winter and this is all just a huge coincidence (we live in the Midwest so it gets pretty cold, windy, and snowy over here), but I'm pretty sure snow and cold never stopped them from being a nuisance in the past. I'll try to update this review after Spring/Summer/Fall to see if the tape truly stands up against woodpeckers during their more active and annoying months. On installation - we cut the tape into 16-18 inch ribbons and reinforced one end with duct tape/packaging tape to minimize tearing. (Cut a strip of duct tape a bit longer than the length of your hand, lay one end of the reflective ribbon about halfway up the sticky side of the tape, then fold the rest of the tape over so it "clamps" down on the ribbon, thus creating a reinforced end that isn't likely to tear). We then folded the reinforced end over onto itself to create a small loop and stapled it to hold it in place. From there we fed a ziptie through the loop in the ribbon and secured it to a screw, which we then screwed into the outside of the house on the second story near the woodpecker holes. (Note: don't drill the screws in all the way so the ribbon still has room to wave around). We had two areas of concentrated woodpecker activity on different sides of our house, so for each area we hung 3 ribbons about a foot or so apart from each other near the holes to prevent them from tangling. Despite enduring months of strong winds, rain, and snow, our original 6 ribbons are still completely intact and performing as expected. If you are not willing to use screws or zipties in your situation, I would highly recommend at least reinforcing the ends of your ribbons to minimize tearing, especially if you plan to hang them. Now for the noise aspect, I'll be honest and admit that I thought people were exaggerating when I was reading all the reviews about how noisy the ribbons were. I just couldn't fathom how a streamer could be THAT loud. Well, I was completely wrong and I'm sorry for doubting you guys haha. Not that it's a bad thing, because the noise is definitely part of the deterrent aspect of this tape, but man is it LOUD. One of the two groups of ribbons we installed is actually on the other side of one of my bedroom walls. The very first night after installing the tape I legit had trouble falling asleep because of the noise. Every time the wind blew, I could hear the tape rustling outside and it sounded like a large animal scratching/scurrying up the side of the house or even like a bird stuck inside the wall flapping its wings like crazy. Over time I got used to it, and it's really not even bad or noticeable unless the wind is blowing particularly hard that day/night, but just know that the tape actually is really noisy. Overall I would say I am incredibly surprised and impressed at this product. I had pretty low expectations when purchasing it, but it outperformed itself in every way. Over 2 months now since installation and we haven't seen or heard a single woodpecker on the sides of our house where the ribbons are (and they haven't tried to move onto another part of the house either). Although it can get noisy at times (especially if it's hanging right outside your bedroom), I would take that occasional minor inconvenience over incessant pecking/scratching and 6am wake-up calls from woodpeckers ANY day. So far this is proving to be a surprisingly cheap and effective solution to our years-long problem, and I hope this review can help you guys too! Good luck! :)

Keeps away dumpster diving ravens
This stuff worked great! Scared away the dumpster diving ravens in our area. I manage maintenance for a pretty large church facility that has 8 tenants most of whom are medical related offices aside from the church and school that meet on the campus 5 days a week. We make a lot of trash. We have two large dumpsters stored in large concrete walled box that hides the unsightly trash. Well, the common ravens traveling through our area found that the area made for an easy and delicious snack spot. They'd dive into the dumpster, rip open bags, and scatter their contents all over the place. We tried getting the tenants to close the lids of the dumpsters but it's a pain having to check up on them as they'd have to open the gate to the area and open the lid before throwing their cash in rather than what they were used to in just heaving it over the gate into the dumpster. So I bought this tape hearing it worked in other applications for other people to help scare away the critters. And after installing it on the inside of the space on the walls it seems to have done the trick. It's been several months now and I haven't had to pick up any trash and I haven't seen the ravens hanging around as much anymore either. I used this in conjunction with a scarecrow owl product I also bought off amazon but honestly I don't think it did much to scare off the ravens as much as this tape did. I found the owl had fallen over in a heavy wind and would have been pretty useless scaring off birds but they never took advantage. So I'm a believer in this scare tape. The tape isn't sticky tape. It's ribbon tape. You'll need some way to fasten it to your desired location. I didn't want to drill into the concrete/stucco so I used duct tape. It's not pretty but no one will see it. I wouldn't recommend using duct tape on painted wood surfaces though as it might take the paint off with it when you take it down. If installing this in trees I'd probably just tie it to the branches. I'll say this about the company. Many companies are taking the opportunity to send a follow up email after purchasing their product from amazon. Some of these emails are useful and some are clearly more interested in getting a good review from you. I didn't get that impression from De-bird. In fact their first email was full of good suggestions on how to resolve your bird problems as well as giving me information on how to get help from the company if I wasn't totally satisfied with the experience. It was genuine, helpful, and to the point. Everything a customer wants from a great company. I'd be happy to support them again. They sent two more follow up emails in the next few months to see if everything worked ok. They seem like a great company and I have absolutely no ties to them or benefit from saying this. It's just the impression I get from their willingness to stand by their product and go the extra mile in communication to ensure you're satisfied.

A reasonably good solution to maurading birds
The Bird Repellent scare tape has solved a big problem for me, and made a significant dent in other similar woes. I have a small organic garden, kids and pets.. I do not want to use pesticides or anything toxic or otherwise dangerous. For years I have done battle for my vegetable garden, first with stray cats digging (resolved with a sprinkler) then rats and snails (protectd bychicken wire) and just when I rhought we would finally harvest some tomatoes, I had to deal with trouble from above. I do like having birds in my yard, but they are not good at sharing, tend to spoil everything. We had a nice crop of lychee this year and lost more than half to the birds :( Now we have mangoes for the first time in years, and some nice tomatoes. I decided to give the scare tape a try after spening an inordinate amount to build a cage to put my tomato plants in. We found doves in the cage! The scare tape has worked wonders, tied t the tomato cage. It keeps the birds away. No problem there at all :) The mangoes are another story. I tied the scare tape on branches around the tree as far up as I could reach. It does seem to be working. They got some of the mangoes when they were small but do not seem to be bothering them now, and we have quite a few large ones ripening. The problem is that we are only geting mangoes within 10-12 feet of the ground. I can not tie on any higher, and the birds go for everything above the tpe line. It does mean that we are getting some, and that is a good thing. It is the best solution I currently have (unwilling to harm them in any way) but still a bit imperfect. >y 4 star rating reflects a good, but not perfect solution, and a price which seems a bit high for mylar tape. 9It really loooks like what is sold as christmas ribbon!) It may be that harvesting 1/4- 1/3 of the fruit is as good a we will do unless and untill I cn gwt a net over the tree (unlikely at its' size). If you are having similar problems it is worth a try. It does help and is not too expensive or difficult to hang. In my experience it will not protect your plants 100% but does a pretty good job and is completely harmless to kids, pets and wildlife.

Not a tape or Bird deterrent
Did not work for me,one it’s more of a reflective ribbon than take as it phase no adhesive , I used duct tape and taped it all around my window A/C units, birds still built their nests inside inside of them so I would not recommend this product as a bird deterrent, it probably attracted them more than anything else.

Very Effective Bird Repellent
We are pleased with the performance of the bird repellant tape. Reading the other reviews, it seems that people are buying it for a lot of different purposes. I don't recall that anyone had the same problem we've been dealing with, so I thought I'd share some details. We live in a sub-division in a semi-rural area. We have a small landscaped back yard which backs up on a large area of undeveloped open space. In the past year or two, the drought in California has been hard on all the native animal life. Specifically, hungry birds began to visit our yard for food. These are small brown birds, sort of like sparrows, I guess. At the peak (the day I placed my Amazon order) there were probably 2 or 3 dozen birds in our small back yard, hunting for insects. Like little chickens, they would pick and scratch at the mulch to find the bugs. I wouldn't mind sharing a few bugs with our feathered neighbors, except for the mess they make! Their frenzied searching scatters mulch onto the stepping-stone pathway, the paved patio, and the little patch of fake grass we have for the dogs. In just a few hours, the hardscaped features of our yard would virtually disappear. So, after doing my research (thank you to the many Amazon reviewers who helped with my education) I placed my order for "De-Bird - Bird Repellent Scare Tape." The product arrived quickly (thank you, Amazon) and I set about placing strips of sparkling silver tape all around the yard. The results were dramatic -- not perfect -- but the number birds in the yard is substantially reduced, and their mess is now manageable. I'm happy with the purchase, but to use the tape to best advantage, here are some things to keep in mind. Sunlight and wind help this product do its work. My impression is that: (1) The sunlight reflects off the pattern on the tape, and the sparkling seems to bother the birds. (2) When there's a breeze, the tape moves, and I think the movement enhances the effect of the reflected sunlight. (3) When there's more of a wind, the tape makes noise as it whips about, and that probably adds to the desired effect. Areas that are sheltered from the wind or shaded from sunlight are likely to be more of a challenge. Most early mornings (sun just starting to rise, yard mostly shaded, little air movement) the tapes just hang there, and they seem to have little effect on the birds. Even so, over the course of a day, we probably have less than 10% as many birds in the yard as we had before the tapes. On a breezy day, it's close to zero. I'd call that a great success! Update: The number of birds messing up our yard continued to decrease. After several weeks, the birds were gone. Not just reduced in number -- completely GONE! The absence is striking. And it has lasted for several months. My original rating was 4-stars. It should be 5-stars!

It works
Works great! I cut it down the middle to make 1-inch strips and tied about a foot long to 6 branches at the top of my cherry tree which is blooming and I haven't seen a bird on it since. It is a bit blinding in the sunlight... so something to consider.

It works!
I was tired of the bird poop on the patio and table non stop. These seem to have solved my problem.

Go to bunnings for other options.
Its okay. Works only when its sunny. When its cloudy birds usually sit around this. Sound doesnt seem to have any effect on the birds. Bunnings has a cheaper tape. Should have tried that first.

simple yet effective!
works as it should but this was a hold over until our bird spikes. The spikes came a couple days after the birds pulled the tape off! They are also more distracting than the spikes. They are noisy in the wind and the sun gets reflected everywhere. I realize that's how they are supposed to work, its just annoying on the patio.

Funziona!
