Marvel's The Avengers

This is, if you watch the MCU movies in chronological order, the seventh, after Captain America, Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, The Hulk, and Thor. If you are watching them in release order, it is the sixth, after Iron Man, The Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America. It is in part a sequel to both Thor and Captain America, with the Mcguffin of Captain America (the Tesseract) and the villain of Thor (Loki) being front and center in the story. Basically, Loki is tasked to use the Tesseract to open a portal through which an army of aliens called the Chitari can come through and take over Earth. The Avengers have to team up to stop him, leading to what would be referred to in the subsequent movies as "The Battle of New York" and have reverberations throughout the other movies and the tv series that the MCU would spawn. For those who get the 4k disc, the A/V quality is excellent. I do not count myself as an A/V expert so I cannot really tell you whether the 4k UHD disc is a huge upgrade over the initial Blu-Ray release (there are certainly sites out there that can do that), but as a novice, it does look like, when watching it on a big screen 4k tv playing on a 4k Blu-Ray player, the UHD disc does look better than the Blu-Ray version. The extras include a director's commentary track on the movie, several making-of and behind-the-scenes featurettes, and a Marvel One-Shot short film starring Lizzy Caplan set after the events of the movie. As is the case with many UHD releases, the UHD disc just has the movie itself and then the regular Blu-Ray has all of the extras. Overall, the movie is wonderful. I think Marvel did a good job by introducing the characters in stand-alone films first and getting the origin stories for most of them (all but Black Widow and Hawkeye) out of the way and developed (at least to an extent) before they started doing the big team-up movies. It seemed like the cast had great chemistry, and worked well together. Of course, the big casting change from the prior movies was the fact that Mark Ruffalo was brought in to play Bruce Banner/Hulk, replacing Edward Norton who seemingly wore out his welcome very quickly when filming The Incredible Hulk. Even though Ruffalo was kind of shoe-horned in, given that this was the first movie in which all of the major actors worked together, it worked out well. The movie is, as you can imagine, mostly an action movie, but does have some comedy and even drama mixed in. It also started the tradition of having both a mid-credits scene that advances the storyline (this one introducing the "big bad" of the initial phases of the MCU, and a post-credits scene that is meant to be more fun or tie back into the movie you just watched. So, if you are a fan of superhero movies, this one is definitely worth watching and pays off on the prior movies quite well.

Being a fan of comics and the Marvel Universe, and after seeing all the other movies leading up to it, I obviously had pretty high hopes going into Avengers, and after finding out a while before that Joss Whedon was going to be directing it, I had a gut feeling it would be well done, because Joss Whedon is an awesome director. I went within the first week with my wife and a few of our friends...made a whole day out of it. I enjoyed just about every minute of that movie, from start to finish! All of the characters were really well done, (it helped that each of the directors from Ironman, Hulk, Thor, and Chaptain America came on board to help advise & whatnot), and each actor played their parts very well. At first, my only one real concern was that Edward Norton was not going to be returning as Bruce Banner, but after watching the Avengers, I found that Mark Ruffalo was a bit better for the role in the end...he played the nerd card a bit better than Norton I thought. The special effects were fantastic! I found myself totally pumped and on the edge of my seat during the action bits in the movie, and the effects done during those scenes were very well done in my opinion. In my head, my hopes for the quantity of action was about right on, maybe just a tad higher, but really not by much. The action sequences incorporated into this movie were just simply awesome! The comedy added into this movie screamed Joss Whedon (looking back on Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Firefly and whatnot), and there was just the right amount in it. It was added in at just some of the right times, and they were great! I laughed pretty good in those scenes. The story was well done, and is close enough to the comics as far as my recollection (it has been some time since I have read some Avengers comics). Obviously, not every little detail would be added in, because that's almost impossible to do when you're converting stuff from a story that spans quite a ways. I imagine it differs when transferring from comics as opposed to books too...there is so much detail in books, but at the same time, it's probably very difficult to transfer every detail within animation and whatnot as well. All in all, bravo on the story though. Of course, that's what you get too when you chose a director like Whedon who grew up reading comics and knows the material and has a real passion for that kind of stuff...you're going to get a good movie. All in all, this is a well rounded superhero movie, and may well be the best one I've seen thus far, right up their with the Dark Knight, which is probably my favorite DC movie up to this point. If you have not seen this movie, please Please PLEASE do yourselves a favor and go watch it, comic fan or not...it's freakin great! Even the action fan who isn't a big comic book lover would enjoy this movie. I have already preordered about the best version of this movie that is going to be available, because it's worth it...even with the 3D, although I don't have 3D capability. I don't really care...it's worth it in my opinion, because this was such a kick@$$ movie. Definitely check it out!

I'm not really into Marvel so I was really surprised that I really did enjoy this movie. Though, I was a tinsy bit confused about what was going on, then I watched Thor, maybe this was just me, but after watching Thor the Avengers made a lot more sense to me. The story really didn't get intresting till Thor came, and no it's not because Chris plays him, but after watching Thor he grew on me. Anyways, this movie really is a great movie and I'm a girl so.., if you don't like this movie then something is wrong with you and you don't know what a great, action packed movie is. Spoilers S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) arrives at one of his agency's facilities during an evacuation. The Tesseract, an energy source of unknown potential, has activated. It opens a portal through space and the exiled Norse god Loki (Tom Hiddleston) steps through. Loki takes the Tesseract and also takes control of the minds of several SHIELD personnel, including Dr. Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgård) and Agent Clint "Hawkeye" Barton (Jeremy Renner), to aid him in his getaway. As SHIELD personnel pull out of their base, some pursuing Loki and others merely fleeing, the ground beneath the base collapses and it's destroyed. In response to the attack, Fury re-activates the Avengers Initiative. First he pulls Agent Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), a.k.a. the Black Widow, out of an interrogation (tied to a chair, she seems to be the victim rather than the interrogator, but appearances are deceiving). Fury sends her to India to find and recruit Dr. Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), a.k.a. the Hulk. At the same time Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) approaches "Iron Man" Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and requests that he review Dr. Selvig's research. Fury himself approaches Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), a.k.a. Captain America, with an assignment to retrieve the Tesseract from Loki. During his exile, Loki encountered the Chitauri, an alien race seeking to conquer the galaxy. In exchange for the Tesseract, the Chitauri agree to help Loki subjugate Earth. Suiting up, Captain America and Iron Man travel to Germany to apprehend Loki, who is recovering iridium needed to stabilize the Tesseract's power, and demanding that the civilians kneel before him. Loki quickly surrenders when the two heroes arrive, and he is escorted to a SHIELD helicarrier, a high-tech, flying aircraft carrier. However, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Loki's half-brother and the Norse God of thunder, arrives and attempts to free Loki so he can reason with him on his own, but he gets into a fight with Iron Man and Captain America. The fight ends in a stalemate. Eventually, Loki is taken to the helicarrier and placed in a glass cell designed to hold the Hulk. Fury explains that if Loki attempts to escape, even by merely cracking the glass, a shaft will open below him and he'll plummet to Earth and possibly be killed. The Avengers, now brought together, argue and deliberate over how to approach Loki and the revelation that SHIELD plans to harness the Tesseract's power to develop weapons, a discovery made by Rogers. Fury admits that the events in New Mexico a year before (recounted in "Thor") made SHIELD aware of other races on other worlds, some of whom may see Earth as an easy target. The decision was made to produce weapons with the Tesseract as a means of deterrence. As the group argues, Clint Barton and Loki's possessed agents attack the helicarrier, disabling one of its engines in flight. While Stark and Rogers attempt to restart the damaged engine, Romanoff tries to prevent Dr. Banner from turning into the Hulk and destroying the ship from inside. Her attempt fails and she's chased through the ship until Thor takes up the battle to pacify the beast and manages to fell him briefly with a hit from his hammer, Mjolnir. While fighting Barton, Romanoff slams him into a guard rail, and the blow to the head breaks Loki's mind control. After the Hulk falls from the ship, Thor is tricked into Loki's holding cell by Loki himself, who has recovered his scepter and releases the cell and allows Thor to plummet. Loki is held at bay briefly by Agent Coulson who is also tricked by one of Loki's holographic projections - Coulson is stabbed in the back by the real Loki. Coulson later shoots Loki with a blast from an unidentified weapon, one that harnesses the power of the Destroyer. Coulson dies while Fury tries to save his life. Thor escapes from the cell a split second before it hits the ground. Banner wakes up in his human form after crashing into an abandoned factory. Fury uses Coulson's death to motivate the Avengers to work as a team. Stark and Rogers realize that simply defeating them will not be enough for Loki. He needs to overpower them in a very public way so as to validate himself as ruler of Earth. Using a device built by Dr. Selvig, Loki opens a portal to the Chitauri home world over Manhattan, summoning a Chitauri invasion. The Avengers rally in defense of New York, but quickly come to the conclusion that they will be overwhelmed as wave after wave of Chitauri descend upon Earth. With help from the reformed Barton, Captain America and Thor evacuate civilians while Dr. Banner transforms into the Hulk and goes after Loki, beating him into submission in Tony Stark's penthouse. Romanoff makes her way, with a little help from the Chitauri, to the device that holds the portal open (conveniently located on the roof of the Stark Building) and hits Dr. Selvig over the head, freeing him of Loki's control. Dr. Selvig reveals that Loki's staff can be used to close the portal. Meanwhile, the council overrides Fury and scrambles a jet that fires a nuclear missile at Manhattan to end the invasion. Iron Man intercepts the missile and directs it at the portal and the Chitauri base before running out of oxygen and plummeting back to Earth, but the Hulk catches him as he falls. A dazed Stark, awakened by the Hulk's roar, offers to take the team out for shawarma, but they decide to apprehend Loki first. Thor escorts Loki and the Tesseract back to Asgard, while Fury notes that the Avengers will go their separate ways until a new world-threatening menace emerges. In a mid-credits scene, the Chitauri leader the Other tells his master that it is futile to attack Earth, as fighting the Avengers is like courting death. His master turns, revealing himself to be Thanos. After further credits, the Avengers are shown eating together in a shawarma joint; the team looks worn out and no one speaks.

First, I'm a senior citizen, 72 years of age, and should be living in an old folks home if I acted my age. So, what's wrong with me? I enjoy comic books; or, at least, I used to. Growing up, I always wondered how a comic book would look on the silver screen, in a live action movie. Some of my favorites were Batman, Superman and a few others with the DC label. I wasn't all that familiar with Marvel's comics. So, what brought me around to Marvel's comic books? Movies is the answer. I enjoy good movies and "Iron Man' was the first of many. I saw the "Superman" and "Batman" series, and enjoyed them. But, it wasn't until the "Iron Man" series that really caught my attention. I saw both in theaters and bought the DVD issues. Then came "Thor," and enjoyed it, but not as much as "Iron Man." I thought "Hulk" was a little silly. I wasn't at all familiar with Captain America (until I saw the movie), Black Widow or Hawkeye; and Nick Fury was only a faded memory. But "The Avengers" brought them all together. I will have to admit that "The Avengers" is a very enjoyable movie. It's loaded with action, humor, and a good story line. It doesn't matter if the story is a bio-pic or entirely fiction, it must be a good story to make me enjoy it. If the story is weak ("Plan 9 From Outer Space" is a good example), the movie will fall apart, usually early. The next are the production values put into the story. There must be a good reason for an actor to do something. This is where "The Avengers" shine. It is a well crafted movie. When I see a movie, I put a very high value on what I'm about to see. I had extremely high values on "The Avengers" and it didn't disappoint me in any way. I paid the going rates for seniors at the local Bijou, sat down with my popcorn and drink. The theater darkened and the usual trailers led me into the main feature. To make a long story longer, I thoroughly enjoyed every frame of "The Avengers." I laughed, I cried; but, I didn't kiss twenty bucks good-bye. Leaving the theater, I thought that I needed to buy the DVD. When my Blu-Ray package arrived, it went into the player and I enjoyed it over again. In the two weeks that I've had "The Avengers" in my movie library, I've probably watched it a dozen times. If this keeps up, I'll have to replace it by the end of the year, as I would have worn out the original copy. The Blu-Ray disc is loaded with all of the extras you would expect; but, this has more. I'm really pleased with Amazon's delivery system. I ordered the disc with standard shipping (I'm cheap), and it arrived three days later. WOW! That was fast. I would highly recommend buying "The Avengers" from Amazon.

First off, I wont write about the review of the movie. I will however write on what to expect when you get the 4 disc set. 1. Packaging: It has a great slipcase with Lenticular picture of the avengers which is different from the 2 disc version. However when you open the BD case, I was suddenly shocked and "frantic" to see that there were 2 discs only on a 4 disc set. I was looking for a folder like holder for the 4 discs but it was then I realized that the discs where placed 1 on top of each other on each side of the case. Thus 2 discs in 1 holder per side thus 4 discs. Initially I thought they placed a wrong combo but I guess they made it in a way to make the case still the regular one without making it bulkier. Personally, I dont like it. 2. Content: This has the 3D BD and BD disc with the DVD and Digital copy disc. It also comes with the code that you need to go to marvel website to activate. I have not watched the 3D so I cant comment on that. The BD version (regular) is great (Video and Audio in DTS HD). The extras are great with the deleted scenes and short movies regarding the aftermath of the war in NY. There are more extras just did not list all. 3. Getting the freebies: As I mentioned, there is 1 code to get all of the extras. Digital copy, Avengers Music, Posters and Comics. You need to go to the marvel website(directions given) and you get it activated. a.Digital copy. Thanks to the heavens it is an iTunes Digital copy and NOT the horrible UV one(sorry had issues before with UV)It states it can be via Windows media player but I have not tested that. Once you load the Digital copy disc and place the code, it will get placed in your iTunes Lib. b. Avengers music. Now this is the best. Very Straightforward you download it and it is in mp3 format compiled in zip file around 110+Megs. The music are the soundtracks and mostly "rock" but at least no problem with the download. c. Posters, you are offered the 24 x 18 inch cartoon poster (free) plus shipping but you can get the 3 other posters for 19.99 dollars plus shipping. d. Digital comics: NOW this is frustrating. I clicked on the redeem and when I was redirected to the marvel comics website, it was asked for me to sign in or register. So I did and then it stated that it was a success. So when I logged in, lo and behold, my digital comics is not in my comics folder. It is suppose to be read via computer, iOS or android but when I tried it there (logged in) wow it is not there. I contacted marvel and after 24 hours still no word as to why that happened. It seems aftersales support is either none or very slow. My advise, REGISTER first and create a username and then log in and then redeem the code. The register while redeeming does not seem to go smoothly. Price I got: 19.99 dollars during the special price from Amazon. Overall: The movie and the extras are great! The packaging should be Good except the 2 disc in 1 holder thing. The freebies are nice especially the NOT UV digital copy. Thank you iTunes. But thumbs down to the digital comics glitchy redemption thing. Marvel comics are you still having no response to my technical issue? So total score 4/5. Hope this helps your purchase decision

I feel as if I got a great deal on this product and shipping was very quick (2 days). I could not wait to watch this on my plasma TV with my kids. The video played through with no errors, the quality on my TV was amazing. The sound, I feel could be better, but this I would blame on my TV (I am looking to add a surround sound system to upgrade the entertainment experience for when we get a chance to experience a movie to wind down). I do not want to play spoiler for this movie if you have not seen it, but I will say that there are a few super-heroes: Black Widow, Hawkeye, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Nick Fury and The Hulk. Black Widow (played by Scarlett Johansson) was great, I like that she had the look and nailed the moves. Hawkeye (played by Jeremy Renner) was pretty good, there were a few really cool parts in this movie that Hawkeye had. Captain America (played by Chris Evans) Captain is the first Avenger and even if the Captain is overmatched he will not back down and does what he must. I really liked the humanistic approach of Widow, Hawkeye and Captain America as being more believable in the story because they cannot fly, do not have hulkish strength or able to command thunder. They brought a sense of reality to the story. Iron Man (played by Robert Downey Jr.) was downright AWESOME! I think Downey is meant to be Iron Man. He captivated this role; his personality and character are very convincing for this role. Iron Man is criticized as not being a team player but then.... happens (again do not want to play spoiler). Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth) was pretty cool; I personally think The Avengers could have had more Thor due to who the villain was. Nick Fury (played by Samuel L. Jackson) was very cool, as Jackson is cool in what seems to be every other movie in existence do to the amount of movies he is in! Fury does what has to be done to assemble the Avengers to defend earth. Lastly, my favorite character was the Hulk (played by Mark Ruffalo). I feel as if Marvel finally got what the audience wants out of the "real Hulk". Not to blame Edward Norton, I personally think that he played an aspect of who the Hulk really should be (during last hulk movie) when not angry better. But unfortunately, it took Marvel up to this point with the Computer Graphics Imaging to get what we really care about down. In my opinion, the Hulk had the coolest and most awesome moments in the movie! I cannot wait for another Hulk movie! I do have some points to criticize about this movie- The fact that there are seven Marvel characters (hero’s) used and only one is female is a little underrepresented by females. Also, Fury is a Marvel character but does little real fighting or real action, I feel as if the African American hero population is also underrepresented. In the next film it would be nice to have another female hero and an African American hero. The end result is entertainment and appeal. I feel that a super hero should not just appeal to little boys, but little girls too. I have two little girls and I personally think there is nothing wrong with them wanting to be like a hero that they have seen (goals, great virtues, etc...). Marvel Comics Cinematic Universe has made the impossible possible. The Avengers have assembled! Ever since the movie Iron Man came out in 2008, Marvel had dropped hints that it was starting more than just a film franchise, it was creating a film universe, one that would become an epic greater than ever thought possible. All credit is owed to every single actor in this film who appeared in its previous five films as well as its champion storyteller Joss Whedon. After the events of Captain America, the First Avenger in which the beginnings of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s epic hero Captain America help start other superheroes long before Iron Man, Thor, the Incredible Hulk, and others. Now he and all those other heroes come together for the first time and its spectacular. With Thor’s wicked brother Loki still alive and furious at being slighted over his place in his kingdom in the movie Thor, he returns to serve an unknown but powerful master who guarantees him a planet to rule in Earth. In exchange, he must guarantee the possession of the powerful object known as the Tesseract, the same item that provided power to the enemy of Captain America in the previous film. But the forces of Nick Fury’s Agents of SHIELD call upon Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Incredible Hulk as well as their best agents Black Widow and Hawkeye to save the world. With such great talents, one can see how this might be an impossible task for Joss Whedon, but as the director/creator of such great television stories Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, he manages and succeeds. Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Clark Gregg, and Tom Hiddleston shine in the epic blockbuster. So much good and quite frankly very little bad. It’s tough getting past the second act, with all those amazing talents together the Avengers don’t appear to be a team, but it takes a good push to move things forward in its epic final act. Seems a little bit of a cop-out starting them off on the wrong foot for dramatic effect. Not everything should begin rough. Also found it awkward with a different Hulk actor, it makes me wonder what it would have been like to have had Edward Norton on board, but Mark Ruffalo manages well. I do love that the Blu-ray release, as well as its 3D release, are presented fully in its spectacular IMAX perspective. Truly mesmerizing. The special features on the disc are also fun. The short film Item 47 deals with how the Agents of SHIELD fared with some of the Chitauri weapons and how two young lovers were involved. I also liked the deleted scenes which presented a stronger look at some of the characters like Captain America and Maria Hill, not to mention some alternate scenes relating to the World Council. Some of the scenes were good but some are just okay. An instant classic, well worth the purchase.

Stell Dir vor, es ist Krieg und alle sind dabei! - So in etwa könnte man die Quintessenz aus dem neuen Film von Joss Whedon ziehen, der so etwas wie der Vereinigungskampf aller vorherigen Streifen darstellt. Langsam wurden die einzelnen Charaktere - in wirklich sehr guten Einzel-Verfilmungen - an uns herangeführt, um dann endlich gemeinsam gegen den einen großen Feind antreten zu können. The Avengers. Das sind: Ironman, Thor, Hulk, Captain America, Black Widow und Hawkeye - angeführt von Nick Fury, dem Leiter von S.H.I.E.L.D. Wie man sieht gab es praktisch zu jedem der Superhelden bereits einzelne Filme mit teilweise sogar identischen Schauspielern. Zur Handlung läßt sich folgendes kurz zusammengfaßt sagen: Loki, seines Zeichens Halbbruder von Thor und Abtrünniger Asgards, hat es sich zum Ziel gesetzt, an seinem Bruder im Speziellen und dem Universum im Allgemeinen Rache zu üben. Dazu schließt er einen Pakt mit den Chitauri, um an den Tesserakt zu kommen, den alle für eine unerschöpfliche Energiequelle halten - es sich jedoch tatsächlich um einen Portalöffner handelt. Kurze Rede, um nicht zuviel zu verraten: Loki und die Chitauri wollen der Erde ans Leder. Und so sieht sich unser Heimatplanet seiner bis dahin größten Gefahr ausgesetzt. Und gegen einen schier übermächtigen Gegner kommt man mit normalen Soldaten nun einmal nicht an. Kommen wir nun zum Film ansich: Um es auch hier kurz zu machen: Wow! Bei so vielen Helden kann einiges schief gehen, wenn man nicht aufpaßt, man kann sich hier als Geschichtenerzähler wahrlich verzetteln. Hinzu kommt, daß jede dieser Helden eine ziemlich herausragende Persönlichkeit ist und für sich genommen schon relativ wenig Platz um sich duldet. Joss Whedon trägt diesem Umstand Rechnung, indem er die Avengers in einer der Szenen streiten läßt wie kleine Kinder. Das mag sich jetzt seltsam anhören, aber hier prallen wirklich enorm große Egos aufeinander, die miteinander zurecht kommen müssen, und Whedon hat dieses Storyelement ganz wunderbar eingefangen. Auch sonst kabbeln sich die Mitstreiter dauernd, um Ende doch gemeinsam gegen den großen Feind anzutreten. Meine beiden Favoriten des Films sind hierbei ganz klar Iron Man alias Tony Stark und Hulk alias Bruce Banner. Die beiden könnten gegensätzlicher nicht sein und doch harmonisieren sie irgendwie am besten zusammen und geben der Story, sowie dem Film ansich die nötige aktionsreiche und humoristische Würze. Ganz allgemein hat der Streifen ein angenehm hohes Tempo, ohne dabei hektisch zu wirken. Die Actionszenen sind rasant, aber nicht chaotisch, überall raucht, kracht und blitzt es, und dennoch verliert man nie die Übersicht oder die eigentlich Geschichte aus den Augen. Wer jetzt natürlich einen besonderen Anspruch sucht, wird freilich enttäuscht: das ist Superhelden-Popcorn-Kino! Und zwar in herausragender Form; also zurücklehnen, was zu knabbern in sich reinschaufeln und ein einfach berieseln lassen und genießen. The Avengers ist einmal mehr so ein Film, bei dem man sich aus dem Sessel erhebt und ganze drei Meter größer fühlt. Nach Herr der Ringe wollte ich auch immer gleich rufen: "Gebt mir ein Schwert!" Für das Gesamtverständnis des Films muß man übrigens die anderen Streifen nicht notwendigerweise gesehen haben, aber es hilft absolut! Anschauen sollte man sich vorher also: Hulk Der unglaubliche Hulk Iron Man Iron Man 2 Captain America Thor Angeblich hat der erste Hulk nichts mit den anderen Produktionen zu tun, es schadet aber nichts, sich diesen Film mit anzusehen. In fast allen vorgenannten Filmen werden auch immer erste Bezüge zu S.H.I.E.L.D. genommen und ein wenig für den nächsten Film gespoilert. Und zwar immer nach dem Abspann... es sei also darauf hingewiesen: bei diesen Filmen auf keinen Fall aufstehen oder den Film vorzeitig beenden, wenn er vermeintlich schon ferig ist und der Abspann läuft; denn da kommt noch was ;-) - auch bei The Avengers. Insgesamt merkt man den Schöpfern all der Streifen an, daß sie filmisch endlich erwachsen geworden sind und auch die Filme endlich sehenswert werden - ja sogar herausragend gut. Seien es nun Spiderman, die neuen Batman-Filme, Men in Black (der neue dritte Teil ist übrigens auch ziemlich gut), Superman Returns, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Green Hornet oder all die anderen. Mir haben eigentlich alle gefallen (von Green Lantern einmal abgesehen). Die Filme werden summa summarum einfach immer besser, entwachsen ihrem klischeebehafteten Kinder-Genre und den einst stümperhaften Produktionen; und The Avengers ist ohnehin der lange ersehnte Climax des ganzen, wenn sich all diese coolen Socken endlich gemeinsam in die Waschtrommel trauen und rotieren was das Zeug hält. Fazit: unbedingt anschauen und bestellen!! Ergänzung vom 14.09.2012 - nach dem erneuten Genuß des Filmes auf Blu-ray: Nun, es war ein Gerücht und es hat sich leider bestätigt: die deutsche BD ist in einer Szene geschnitten. Agent Coulson wird in einer Szene von hinten von Loki erstochen. Im Kino ragt kurz darauf die Spitze seines Stabes aus Coulsons Brust; das ist nun nicht mehr so. Warum? Keine Ahnung... Es ist meines Wissens nur diese eine Szene geschnitten und es handelt sich wirklich nur um eine einzige Sekunde, aber nerven tut es dennoch. Kommen wir nun zur Optik der BD: Diese ist herausragend. Alles ist gestochen scharf. Keine Schlieren, keine Körnung, einfach nur ein phantastisches Bild. Gleiches gilt auch für den Sound: Was mir vor allem gut gefällt, ist die Abmischung; denn ich hasse nichts mehr als Filme, die in normalen Szenen leise sind und dann bei der Action dermaßen losbrüllen, daß man ständig an der Fernbedienung für die Soundanlage rummachen muß. Hier ist alles schön ausgewogen. Paßt! Auch die Extras können sich sehen lassen: Die klassischen Patzer wurden hier ersetzt durch Patzer + Blödeleien am Set; hat mich sehr amüsiert. Dazu kommen noch entfallene und alternative Szenen und am Ende noch ein echtes Schmankerl: ein Kurzfilm namens "Item 47", der einige Tage nach der Schlacht von New York spielt. Wirklich eine nette Dreingabe! Es bleibt bei meinem Fazit, trotz der kleinen geschnittenen Szene: unbedingt kaufen und sich köstlich amüsieren. PS: HULK ist einfach der Brüller in diesem Film!!

Gran título. El mejor de la saga hasta el momento!

A thrilling and satisfying culmination of the early MCU films. The chemistry between Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, and the rest of the team is fantastic, balancing humor, personality, and stakes. The action sequences are exciting and well-choreographed, and the story does a good job of juggling multiple heroes without feeling too crowded. Some plot points are predictable, and the villain could have been more developed, but overall it’s a highly entertaining, fun, and essential superhero film.
