Review: Good solid knife - Over the years I have purchased/owned a number of kershaw knives and you may say I have become a Kershaw knife collector. When I first saw this original looking knife a few months ago I knew I had to add it to my collection, but at the time it was on pre-order so I decided to wait. Recently, I checked again and noticed that it was in stock and with desertcart Prime I could get two day delivery so I decided to take a closer look at it. I then noticed a number of reviews, none giving anything above a four star review and most being three and I became little weary of purchasing. After a few days of thinking it over I decided to give it a try, I figured if it was as bad as the reviews said I could return it. I then purchased two, one for me and one as a gift for a friend. THE REVIEW: The knife is solid, like all other Kershaw's that I own. Yes, the knife is a little heavy, but that is why I like it, it feels strong, as its name implies, Decimus, a Gladiator. Opening is very easy with the Speed-Safe assisted opening. And I can easily close it with one had as opposed to my Identity knife, which is impossible to close with one hand. As far as the blade blade being loose, I took both the knives I purchased out of their boxes and checked each one individually; the blades on the ones I received are not loose. As far as the clip, I did not have to make any adjustments and it holds the knife securely in the front pocket of my pants with out protruding out too much. Overall, I like the knife and for now it has become my everyday carry knife. And as far as looks, it it's the most unique knife that I own. And personally, I love the Bayonet/Spear look of the knife. This one's a bit half the price of those at $35 at the time of my purchase. The spring-assisted open is nice and it snaps out with a firm release (too soft and it might come upon at unwanted times). The lockup is good; it's a liner lock so not SUPER strong but seems about as good as the average liner lock. One-handed close is pretty simple and comparable to most liner locks, with slightly more force required to overcome the spring tension. But all that's just stuff it could have messed up but didn't. The REAL reason I like this thing is its nice shape, good ergos, and bad-ass appearance. If not does anyone know of any quality knives in the price range that do lock when shut?** A: It doesn’t lock when shut, however it won’t be coming open unexpectedly. It takes a nice nudge of the thumb in the right direction to open it. Not sure about knives that lock when they shut, I have over 200 knives in my collection and never seen one that locks shut. **Q: Is this knife made in the USA?** A: No. **Q: Is the knife blade double sided?** A: No it is not. Only one side of the blade is sharpened. It is a great knife though. **Q: Can the pocket clip be put on the opposite side??** A: Yes - there is a shield on the opposite side of the clip to allow for left and right handed carry. The shield can be switched using T-7 star driver. The knife may only be carried tip-up though. Great value for the money!
