3M Scotch-Brite General Purpose Hand Pad 7447 Pro - 20 Count

I first came into contact with this product about 40:years ago . It was used by a company I worked for to clean fine metallic items . Many years later when I was looking for a similar product I remembered Scotch Brite. I purchased o box for my home use ; from removing rust from metal items ( bits of bikes) to cleaning metal pots and pans either dry or in water.. p e r f e c t .Do not use on plated items.

I build musical instruments and use an oil finish that can be built up in coats on the walnut necks. I use these pads (cut down to 10 smaller pieces per coat for 10 instruments because they do clog up at some point and can scratch the finish) to scuff up the finish to take the next coat (I like 5-6 coats) for a smooth job that isn't glossy like a sprayed lacquer finish. It's the best product I've found for this, I've used them for 21 years.
