Recognized the chipset immediately on my PC with no driver headaches. The cable is thick and the molding on the connectors is heavy enough that it won't snap after a few uses. No data drops or weird errors during the scan. It just works like it should.

I was able to get this interface to work on Windows 10 with VCDS Lite but required using the Windows update driver to find the FT232RL chip. I do not know if this chip is authentic but was discovered. The key is VCDS supports Windows 10, the OS just needs to know how to communicate via the Com port associated (user will need to assign). I didn't give it 5 stars since the interface is slow and will occasionally loose communication. You must understand that the Lite version supports KL protocol, it is not for newer vehicles. I used this on a 2003 VW convertible to clear the airbag, it worked fine, took 3 tries based upon a communication issue but worth the $17 I paid for the adapter since the software is FREE, it is a win in my situation. I also plan on using this for the switches in the convertible top to see what is occuring, although not sure if the LITE version supports it, regardles, worth the price but not 5 stars.

Not a true review just yet - 3 stars for the apparent quality of the OBD2 Connector hardware to the USB. Looks impressive, sturdy. Waiting on actually using it for my VW... The software came on a mini CD - in today's world, DVD.CD players are hard to come by. But got a hold of one, got the data off - but unable to use with Windows 10. The app installed, looks similar to what I've seen on other OBD2 scanners on tablets and the such. However, unable to use the OBD2 into the software as it's only for serial - COM1-COM4. There are drivers in the CD for the device, but nothing that works with Windows 10 that I could fine. Next Steps: Locate a Windows 7 machine and load up the software / drivers and go from there. Pretty literate with WinDrivers, as I've written many myself - Not much we can use with the current ones provided given the different hooks into Win10. Until then - keeping the review with 2 stars just for the hardware. Will update if I can get the drivers working with an older PC. Some feedback to the seller - you may have a very good product, perhaps a quick start guide with proper drivers will help adoption. Without a person that is literate with Windows PCs - you'll be really stuck.

I used this AUTANCTOR cable for my 2000 Jetta, and it’s definitely a niche tool for older Volkswagens and Audis from that era. It comes with a mini-CD, which is pretty much useless since almost no modern laptop actually has a disc drive anymore. You'll need to go online and find the "VCDS-Lite" software or older VAG-COM 409.1 drivers to get it to work on a Windows machine. Once you track down the software, it’s a bit finicky to set up because there aren't any real instructions included. It works well enough for reading basic engine codes on an "ancient" MK4 like mine, but don't expect it to do much on newer cars that require CAN-Bus. For a simple cable, $25 feels a bit steep, especially since you have to do all the legwork to find the software yourself. It’s a solid enough cable if you’re trying to keep an old VW on the road, but it’s definitely not a plug-and-play experience.
