- 6 yr old is building everything according to schematics - 3 yr old absolutely loving it, playing with 3-4 basic circuits, absolutely riveted w/ it - 1.5 yr old enjoying it as well, obviously w/ adult supervision so he doesn’t launch the battery holder and shatters it to pieces, again The engineers in the fam are telling me that the kids are getting a solid college-level electronics 101 education out of this “toy”

I see mostly children ages 5-7 are getting this. Do you think a 12 yr old would appreciate this?

Hi KrisA 12 year old might appreciate it at a different level. Usually the kids between 5-7 get fascinated with the fan, light and sound. But the 12 year will actually understand load, resistor, parallel and serial connection and so on ... So if your 12 year old wants to visualize ohms law and some physics (including diodes) then you can go for it!Let me know if I have answered your concern.

Should i start my almost 6 year old with this set or with the SC-300 (I have a consignment store bought one in my closet)? Does the "junior" matter?

I bought my 7 year old the jr and now wish I had opted for a bigger set. If you already have the 300, I would use that one. They sell an upgrade kit that takes the jr to a 300, so if you bought the jr and then gave the 300 to your child, you'd be duplicating half the kit.

I am not sure if you are asking whether or not this is a good present for a 6 year old or not. But, my son is 6 years old and he absolutely LOVES this set. His 13 year old sister actually likes playing with it as well. We are so impressed with it, that when he is complete with all of the projects, we are considering getting one of the more elaborate sets. If anyone has a 6 year old boy interested in this type of stuff, I recommend getting a set.

Good Toy for Kids

A very good toys for kids to understand the basics of electrical circuits. It is nearly a year now and kids still enjoy playing with it. The booklet comes with sufficient number of circuit designs. Kids can then use there own imagination to build circuits. Except for the wire+button, which broke, all others parts are in good working condition. Did not observe any rusting issues. It also introduce kids to sensor, LED etc. A very good toy for children. Worth the money. Planning to upgrade.

Kids learn Electronics in a fun way!

This is a must have for all parents who want their kids to develop an interest in electricity and electronics. The parts are very durable, the projects are fun and the project guide book explains concepts beautifully. Does not require a parent to be an expert in electronics. In fact, you can learn along with your kids. The kit is expandable with the other upgrade kits.

its nice product. very easy to join and develop and learn circuit. nothing is harmful. i bought it for my 10 year old child, he is happy to do project with kit. he like to play it and i think he learn it nicely.

Good but a bit pricey

Great toy for young kids...a bit expensive though. I gave this as a present to my nephew and he loves it. There are upgrade packs but those are also expensive.

really awesome stuff!

really awesome stuff!! my kid is 6 yrs and she thoroughly enjoys the snap circuits. instructions are very simple and after a few guided projects shes able to do the rest projects by herself. it allows kids to develop basic knowledge on circuits like how current flows to control light, sound etc. really good product quality also.

It's expensive, but very well thought out and certainly worth investing in for your child. The experiments are simple and interesting, and I wish I had learnt my physics in such a fun way!
