Outstanding pick for a weekend warrior car that sits during the week
I've consistently used Optima Yellow Top D35 on my weekend fun car (heavily modified 2002 WRX) that sits during the week and sometimes the battery drains down. It start very strong every time. Most recently I left the car for about 3 weeks just after installing the new battery and without much driving on it, and came back expecting the battery to need a jump, but I turned the ignition and it fired right up. The extra cost is a million times justified in my mind considering my experience with cheap batteries that last about a year or two. I've had Optima Yellows last 8+ years easy and have not seen deterioration in quality in the maybe 15 years I've ran them on my two cars. My "battery for life"

Lasted 9years 5 months.
I bought this battery September 2016. Been running it in a 14 XV Crosstrek with pretty powerful multi amp sound system. Battery just died today. FEB. 22 2026. Pretty amazing battery but price has gone up so much I might have to try a cheaper alternative.

😔
I’m really disappointed with this purchase. I paid over $300 for this battery expecting quality and durability, but it didn’t even last a year. The battery is already failing and not working properly, which is unacceptable for something at this price point. I took good care of it, so this definitely seems like a defect or poor build quality. For anyone considering buying this, just be aware that it may not last as long as expected. I’m now stuck dealing with a replacement process, which is frustrating. I would not recommend this product based on my experience.

So far so good....
1-23-2011b, Yellow Top D35. Hi there, Summary: The price was good, it arrived without any shipping damage, so far the battery works fine. D35 Battery, $167, $194 after shipping. It took Amazon more than 2 days, UPS 3 days, for a 5 day total to ship to me. This (Amazon time) should be shorter... Background: I'm a HAM Radio operator, and my radios dont like Voltages less than 11.7V (They claim). I have a FT-857d, and and after talking on the radio for about 2-3 minutes, my cars battery battery was running at 12V, and in less than 5 minutes it was at or below 11.7V. This was on my 2-3/4 year old Autolite Platinum (RC=100) battery. It started my car fine, but its Voltage sagged under a 20 Amp load. And I was tired of the effects of battery acid leaking. So I decided to change to a AGM type battery, because it was more designed for how I was using the cars battery. And, it dose not leak or out gas acid... So far the Yellow top battery is holding up much better, than my 2 year old (flooded cell) battery was. One reason I choose this battery is it claimed its charged open circuit Voltage was (fully charged) 13.1V instead of the more common 12.65V. However, I'm seeing more like 12.9V, and 12.65V once its lightly loaded (used)... Bottom line: The price was right, took longer than I expected to ship to me, seems too work good so far... PS. It arrive at 12.6V that about 80-90% charged... PPS. It would be nice if they made a D34R (R = reversed positive/negative connections) its like a BCI-35) Yellow or Blue top battery... B

Optima yellow top 218D35
This is my fourth purchase of an Optima dry cell battery. I still have all four. My old Chevy 4x4 pick up. I bounced down the road cause I drove the heck out of it. Battery acid was everywhere and I was replacing the wet cell batteries every year. In 2006,I installed an Optima Red Top. No more spills and better starting power. I have used that same old Red Top in two pick ups and one car, sold the cars but kept the battery for a spare cause it fits most applications and still starts most any car or pick up at 6 years old. In 2006 our new pick up kept going dead cause we parked it most if the time. The alarm system would kill the wet cell battery after a couple of weeks parked. Bought a Yellow top, now it can be parked for just over a month with the alarm on before the batter goes low. We stored the pick up for three months with the alarm off and it never went dead. Yea you car alarm will kill your battery eventually. Yea you'll need a deep cycle type maintenance free setting on your home battery charger, if you need to recharge Optima batteries. Most new chargers have that setting too. If you buy a new charger with the 50 amp jump starting feature, you'll never wait for a tow truck. My old 2008 corolla needed a replacement battery in 2012. Yep, Optima Yellow Top was my choice cause I like to listen to the stereo with the engine off for hours. The car always starts right up now. Oh yea put two Optima Blue Tops in my boat for peace of mind. Wired in a Perko boat battery switch so I never have a dead battery. If we beach the boat and play the stereo all day long, I can switch to the full battery to insure we all get home safely. Yea you can do the same with wet cell batteries but they won't last as long and charge back up as easy as Optima batteries. Plus you can mount Optimas sideways or upside down to make more room. Just don't short out the battery terminals. Note:some modification of battery mount hardware may be needed in some applications but most just fit perfect. Check the battery post locations before you buy. I looked at the over priced batteries at my local car parts store first, took some measurements, then ordered from Amazon. Yes Optima batteries are about double the price of most replacement wet cell batteries, but well worth it. Amazon is awesome, the lowest price and you don't have to carry the new battery home. Who doesn't love free shipping. Order yours today and in about a week the nice Fed Ex or UPS person will carry that heavy battery right to your door or garage.

Optima D35 Yellowtop Battery
Unlike the horror stories I've heard elsewhere regarding battery damage during shipping, my battery arrived (upside down!) in undamaged condition. There aren't many auto batteries that can boast that. After removing the original battery I cleaned up the corroded battery terminals with an acid-neutralizing spray. The new Optima battery dropped straight in and I clamped it down using the original clamp and bolt. This battery fitted very nicely into my 2003 VW GTI 1.8T, no modifications required. I now have confidence in cranking the engine on those bitter winter mornings. The only negative is the price compared to similar capacity batteries and the shortish warranty. Hence the 4 stars. All in all, a good product and I'm happy with my purchase so far.

2001 Porsche Carrera 911 (996) battery
Confirmed fit in 2001 Porsche 911 (996) 3.4L Coupe. This battery is the best battery you will get for your Porsche. Typically I get about 7 years out of the yellow top and most of us don't daily our 911s so a deep cycle battery like this one won't let you down. Deep cycle batteries are tough and Optima gel cell batteries resist vibration, which is the primary killer of a battery. My 996 tends to sip down electricity just sitting. Repeated draining of the battery will kill a standard battery , even a red top Optima... which are trash (IMO) but the yellow won't suffer nearly as bad as a standard battery. Car cranks nice and strong every time even if she sits for a week or two. Pro Tip - Mounting : This battery is NOT a direct fit to the battery box. Optima doesn't make a direct fit replacement battery for a Porsche 996 at the time of this post. A custom spacer is needed to lock down the battery so it doesn't move. Some people use a high density plastic, like a thick cutting board to fashion one. I used a 12mm or 13mm combo wrench as a spacer. It was the perfect size, shape and had the rigidity to do the job. I was able to really crank it down and the wrench had enough tension to act like a strong spring on the hold down tabs of the battery. This might sound like a "backyard fix". It works, and works great. I have had the battery in the Porsche for a year and 6,000 mi now. It has withstanded a lot of spirited driving , jars and bumps and still it's solid. Battery terminals are in the correct orientation and the Factory Porsche Battery cables are plenty long enough to reach.

It is worth the price!
Expensive, but an excellent battery: Use in a 2010 Yaris. The last one was good for 8 years and could have been more (left my dome light in my car on in and very cold weather=completely dead). The one I bought from this seller got damaged in shipping, but I did get a full refund. I had to buy another one from a store near me ( needed one asap). And I also have one in a Ford escape 2003.

WARNING: NO WARRANTY! CANADA DIRECT IS NOT A AUTHORIZED SELLER.
Dead after 2 years. My battery says right on the label that it has a "3-year free replacement with proof of purchase" and "For warranty service return battery to location where originally purchased." Canada Direct - Often Ships Same Day (the company's full name) sold me the battery. Canada Direct - Often Ships Same Day: "... for warranty claims this is handled by Optima directly. For us we fully abide by Amazon's 30 days returns policy." Optima: "Optima does not supply Amazon.ca with batteries. The warranty is listed on the top label of your battery and is the warranty period Canada Direct should be using." "Just for future reference we don't recommend buying batteries from Amazon.ca or any online reseller that is not an authorized seller. " "Canada Direct - Often Ships Same Day" also goes by "Piece of Cake LTD" and "Lots of Stuff", which makes it hard to track down contact information. Amazon won't give it to you.
