Zoo Tycoon 2: Zookeeper Collection - PC

Zoo tycoon 2 Zookeeper Collection is a great deal I got it for only $30 when Zoo Tycoon 2, African Adventure Expansion, and Endangered Species Expansions (all included in this package) Originaly cost about $20 each. This game is really fun at first but after creating multiple zoos in Freeform and completing both Challange and Campaign modes the game has lost some of its fun but is definatly still 4 or more stars worth People with slow computers will not enjoy the game as much as people with fast computers i recommend at least 1gb of ram

I beat the first one (and its expansions) a few times because I love it so much. I consider myself a "Tycoon Pro" with all the games. This is the worst simulation game I HAVE EVER PLAYED. I beat it. Unlocked everything. There aren't many animals or unlockables even with the expansions, it's really pathetic. Maintanance workers are pointless, literally. There area no tour guides in this one; there's anal-retentive "Educators" that despite taking up little space visually, they demand a large area around them. Zookeeper AI would be laughable if it wasn't so aggravating. They stand around. You will have to go "guest mode" to clean all the poo up & replenish food/water because they don't do it. You get in-game alerts (an intended cruel joke courtesy of the game creators) for various things the game deems important. OH MY GOD. IT DOESN'T EVER STOP. Most of the alerts will SPAM RAPIDLY that zookeeper so-and-so can't reach the poo or food dish despite it being easily accessible. You will be broke the entire campaign mode. Most of your "gameplay" will be spent WAITING for cash so you can build things (but by then it will cost you 10x more to advance since its programmed to go apocalyptic if you don't build something every 10 minutes.) There are no cheats for this game. No special creatures like Unicorns or Bigfoot. No neat eastereggs like putting a mermaid statue in a fish tank and watching it come to life. There are only 3 restaurants in the game and they all look the same. There's only a couple of animal houses/attractions and kids playground equipment doesn't even have a swing. The graphics are HORRID!!! The moose body frame looks like the cheetah. For 2006 there is no excuse for it. You'd think the graphics would be decent given the install requirements, but no. One thing I thought was cool was the addition of Jeep tours... but the graphics are so bad and lunky that the experience of riding in the car is lame. If you do get this for your kid, make sure they stick with freeform mode or atleast show them how to do the jeep path & gate money trick.

I keep hearing my 6-year old asking who's pregnant again when the kids are playing this game. Keeps them entertained for hours.

My daughter installed it on the brand new Dell we bought, complete with high- end graphics card, mega memory and Windows Vista. Purchased the computer specifically for this and other programs like it that my 4 year old Dell is not equipped to handle. It installed fine and she loved it. The next day she tried to play it and could not find it anywhere on the computer - the short cut was gone, it wasn't on the program list, and wasn't available on the control panel - uninstall screen. We had not done anything on the computer between the time she stopped playing and the time she tried to open it up again. We put the disk in to re-install it, clicked on the Install button, and the screen came up saying it would uninstall all components. We clicked next, it said everything was uninstalled and displayed the Finish button. That was it. We tried this perhaps a dozen times, with the same result. It will not install.It seems to have uninstalled itself when exiting out or shutting down, and will not reinstall. My daughter is very disappointed; she was really looking forward to playing it. It was really cool for the hour that she got to use it. Unable to get any help from Microsoft because the help screen requires the product ID, which can only be gotten from the About screen in the program, which of course you can only access if you can install the program. Will be returning the defective product.

This has to be one of the best games I've played in ages. it always has something happening, I enjoy watching the animals have babies and then owning a special themed zoo. The only draw back is, I wished there was more aging when it came to animals.

When the zoo tycoon set that included everything didn't work, I immediately got this one. It works perfectly! I use it with marine mania and extinct animals. Such a blast! Can't believe the series is 10 years old already.

First off let me say that I am a big fan of the original Zoo Tycoon (and expansion packs) and huge animal lover. I figured that this second version of Zoo Tycoon would be wonderful since it is still a ZT game, and it lets you interact with the animals from the guest or zoo keepers view. Well, the graphics are good, however I would have to stop there with listing it's good points. Those of you that played the original games will understand how fun, though sometimes tedious, it was to place a zebra in an exhibit and make sure you have just the right amount of savannah grass, dirt, water, trees, bushes... In this version, one of the first challenges was to place a pair of zebras in a pen. I did that however the pen was grass, and they were happy! Apparently they are not as effected by their surroundings as in the first. The shops and stalls are really just food, beverage and restroom stalls. I don't have any of the "educational" buildings like the aviary, or reptile house and I've been playing for a while. I don't know if the animals ever make noise, but when I am in zookeeper mode and in the pen with the animals they do not make any noises. I recommend seriously considering the purchase of this game and not just a spur of the moment buy like I did. If you want realistic animals, and needs, and sounds stick with the original.
