USB Panel Flush Mount Cable USB 3.0 Extension USB Mount, Dash Mount, Flush Mount, Panel Mount Cable, For Car, Boat, Motorcycle (Square Single USB 3.0 1M)

Bought this as part of an installation of a new car audio headunit. (BMW E46) The headunit I bought supported apple carplay and as such, had a female usb cable coming out of the back of the unit. Normally, most places (where you'd pay an engineer to install the unit) would just pass this cable into the glovebox. Meaning the iphone/android cable is left trailing in the passenger footwell all the time and getting trodden on. I bought this cable for the mountable front and cut a usb sized box into a part of the centre console trim. Plugged it into the back of the headunit and works perfectly. The clip is strong enough to endure some heavy tugging on the cable when devices are plugged into it. A concern of mine was that the head pulls itself out when trying to unplug a device - not an issue. Can't complain with the product - does what its supposed to do and enabled a much neater looking headunit installation.

I wanted to put a USB plug in the glovebox of my VW transporter. This worked a treat. If you want to do the same, there is a small plastic cover inside the glovebox that once housed the air bag on/off switch. This is where I fitted plug. It pulls out without the need of any tools. I used a dremel to cut the hole. I cut approx 20mm x 10mm and then filed the edges back to make a tight fit. To get to the back of the stereo, the glove box housing needs to be removed; this is done by taking out 5no Torx 20 screws, 4 of which are hidden under little black covers and 1 at the very back of the glove box. It took about 10 minutes in total to remove, feed the lead through and put the glove box housing back in place. It looks tidy, is a good fit so no issues of the lead coming out of the housing and most importantly works. Hope the above helps?

Didn't work for my intended use of adding a dash USB socket for my android auto stereo in my van (Kenwood unit) for transferring data. It only worked as power supply for charging That may well be an issue with my stereo rather than this cable. Who knew USB can have so many variants and be so picky! Would work just fine if you only want a flush power socket I'm sure, it's a good build quality

Can't fault at all, cut a hole in the blank plug in my car, usb fitted perfect. Does the job with charging my phone in the car or to stream music/videos. Looks nice and neat too

Purchased to improve the look of the standard setup which came with the head unit it was just a lead that came out dash. Originally I was going to make a cutout next to the aux point on the vw caddy but just through luck it fit the aux hole almost perfect. Not needing the aux point anymore it made sense to utilise the space for the usb so it looks like a factory install. I just popped some super glue on the clips at the back of the glove box to give it some strength as the clips were not amazing. Android auto works perfect no problems with the cable would highly recommend.

Just so people are aware, this lead does not work with a pioneer stereo to use with apple car play

parfait. c'est le deuxième que j’achète pour ma subaru impreza, et pour la smart de ma fille. idéal pour avoir un port usb accessible car il y a des auto radios comme les 2 Pioneer que j'ai, qui sont juste équipés du port USB a l’arrière de l'appareil, et vendus juste avec un câble a poser en "vrac", ce qui est d'ailleurs ridicule. le pose est facile, il faut juste mesurer et découper a l'aide d'un dremel. de préférence découpez sur une partie réversible en cas si un jour vous voulez remettre le véhicule dans sa configuration d'origine. sur la subaru je l'ai installé sur l'emplacement d'un bouton non utilisé, et sur la smart sur l'entourage de l'autoradio que j'ai acheté sur Amazon et qui ne fait pas partie de la voiture a l'origine.
